imo bottled taylors landlord is the most drinkable ale found in larger supermarkets. has anyone a better one or favourite. spitfire is on offer in sainsburys at a £1. i am sure it was passed by franklin or shergar
Thornbridge Wild Swan, suitable for the most experienced pallet, a rounded nose favorite with a spice and lemon after shock, light yet full bodied that leaves you with a moreish quasi after feel, nice with any good old strong game bird, especially the little dark headed piece with big knockers that works in the The Albion Vaults ....go on, tell me its your sister!....
Try Badgers 'Poachers Choice'. Perfect for autumn. I agree TT Landlord is the best draught you can get, although I never buy the bottled stuff.
ah but down in deepest devon we are a bit short on the taylors. i will look for the poachers choice. and tinned hats i am not related to the extra large mammary glanded barmaid at the albion vaults. which supermarket sells wild swan please. i had a real ale moment yesterday in bristol. i have compiled a mini report in the loggerheads thread.
Ahh, Thornbridge Wild Swan - 3.3% -3.4% is it? Lovely drink. I was sat in a little side alley pub in Bridgnorth after an extreme Real Ale stag do down and back up the Severn Valley stopping at most of the stops and longer in Bewdley and several in the Kiddy station and many more in Bridgnorth station (plus Bathems in a bottle) on the train and the last drink I had at ten that night (long day) was Wild Swan. Gorgeous ale. Bathems ale is good in a bottle. Tanners sell it amongst others. If you can find it Salopian Oracle is fantastic Morrisons have a wide selection of ales 4 for £6 if priced at £1.89. Ones I like and buy if I go there are - Castle Rock - Harvest Pale (pale hoppy) Thwaites - Wainwright (paleish); Tavern Porter Titanic - Iceberg (very hoppy but clean) Marstons - Oyster Stout () Jennings - Cockerhoop (pale), Snecklifter (dark old ale) Harvistoun - Bitter and Twisted (Scottish beer - gorgeous) Currently selling in Shrewsbury Moorhouses beers such as Black cat and Blond Witch both are nice Tesco have a load of good stouts/porters in and do a lot of regional ales, often 4 for £6 offers on. I went for weekend to Cheltenahm and their Tesco had a lot of oxfordshire and West country ales for sale. Sainsburys sell lots of good ales and have 3 for £4 and 2 for £3 offers on and sell a simialr range as above but do sell Bath Ales' Gem which is a nice beer.
Wainwright's..ahhhh, my drink when im walking the lake's, cold winters night,by a big roaring log fire, in a beautiful Kendal town ale house having just returned from climbing that wonderful mountain cats bells.......
i love julia bradburys wainwright walks. i wonder what happened to the original wainwright programs, they should be shown somewhere. until then i can make do with wainwright ale!
