I think most of you lot have been giving Jay a hard time. I think people often have the narrow minded view that if a striker isn't scoring bags of goals then he's utterly useless.

Ok, now Helguson is scoring bags of goals but there were many games last season and games this season where he wasn't scoring but was a contender for man of the match.

I think that Jay Bothroyd has often been a very composed and useful player, even if it's for distributing or holding the ball and working the opposing defence.

He's also good at motivating the rest of the team. I think that he's been playing some good, smart football. Let's hope he gets even better and starts adding goals, too.

I do wonder about NW sometimes!! Hopefully, when he comes out with this kind of complete tosh he's using it as some kind of motivational/player management thing, as opposed to just simply losing the plot!

Jay may have been useful but I don't remember him looking dangerous too often except in the Man City game and second half of Tottenham when he was terrific. The guy's got it in him, perhaps he should be a bit more selfish at times in his hunt for a goal.

Perhaps he's better against the bigger clubs, next two games will show whether he is...
