I know he only came on in the second half but he looked a different player maybe the same thing should happen to Adel.
He seemed to be playing just behind, or switching with HH and Mackie. It suited all 3 of them, let's hope the goal is first of many.
Looked the same as before to me and that's not a bad thing he's a very strong player who holds the ball up well and rarely doesn't hit a rangers player with a pass. Was disappointed when we dropped him. Helgusson and Bothroyd worked well off each other 2nd half and could be a prolific pairing.
I agree with this, would add that they need pace outside to allow them to get into scoring positions, otherwise both seem to play in front of opposition defence - except from set pieces of course:good goal for Bothroyd.
Still thought Bothroyd played without much confidence - even his goal looked without intent and he seemed surprised it went in. Hope it gave him more confidence though!
Actually it looked good to me. I saw something upfront today, that I hadn't seen before. It was hard against Spurs but against the teams we should beat....the stokes and wigans it will work. I am mildly pleased
Turning defenders, back heals, taking players on, looked like a different player when playing with another striker. He looked good to me!
I think the Barton, Derry, Faurlin trio is too negative, the change in emphasis in the second half was an eye-opener and shows that the substitutions got the blend right, we were more dynamic and with Mackie's energy replacing Taarabt's laziness we actually looked capable of competing...
foolhardy to go to spuds gung-ho so having a solid holding midfield was a must.Adel isnt the most industrious but he can win you a game in a blink of an eye.
Deano did you see the game today? Adel was a liability, we only gave them a game when we got Jay and Jamie on. I've blinked a lot over the last ten games and Adel has yet to deliver anything.
Im the first to slag off Bothroyd, but thought Warnock (for once) was tactically spot and Both looked extremely sharp. Coming in deeper and collecting the ball suited him.
Dont get to used to the second half display, NW will have the same starting 11 next week against Man City. Both and Co on the bench.
Watching the game again now in replay, and looking for Betty back heels- haven't seen one yet. But Joey did really well 2nd half, looked far more at home in central midfield to me. And the QPR fans are outsinging Spuds - great stuff.
I thought Betty did well and scored too. It could work with him playing up with HH, but maybe in a 4-4-1-1 with Betty slightly withdrawn. 4-4-2 seems a bit out-dated these days. Maybe, now that Adel has been reduced to ****, we should try this: Paddy Young Gabbidon Ferdinand Traore SWP Barton Faurlin Mackie Bothroyd HH This could also become the familiar 4-2-3-1 with Barton and Faurlin holding.
Could work Col, with Adel on the Bench fit and ready to come in for Betty or Mackie after 58 minutes! On the 2nd half show today, I'd like to see more of Joey exactly where you put him.
