Looks like they are both off, how many more to follow? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6946944,00.html
Do you think you could get the play offs again with a few signings? Also what are your thoughts on Anthony Gerrard, if DJ goes he could be a good player for you.
We knew they were leaving, I'm excited by the youth players given contracts. I think Farrah has been highly rated. Hopefully we can get a spine of experience to develop these youngsters around.
**** em. Burkey made it clear early on that he wanted to go back to Scotland so his heart was never in the club which might be the reason he was so **** this season. Bothroyd is no loss. Strikers that can score 20 goals are ten a penny (Jerome, Earnshaw, McCormack etc.) and we'll find another drifter just like him soon enough. Now players like Bellers and McNaughton that play with a bit spark and passion are what teams are built on so bringing Bellers back would make my summer and make up for a poor end to the season. Lets find some players that actually want to play for us.
Burke has been very disappointing this season, but he is still a decent player so shame to see him go but I'll get over it. I can't agree with people who are saying that Bothroyd is no loss; technically he is one of the best players in the division and although he has his faults (falls over too easily, appears to lack passion) he's a great player at this level and one who won't be replaced easily. Completely agree regarding McNaughton and Bellamy! We need to sign some players who are hungry and willing to get stuck in. I can't help feeling one of the major reasons we failed this season is because on too many occasions there was nobody willing to close down the opposition in central midfield. We need to sign a 'prick' for want of a better word, like Richie Wellens from Leicester who'll make a nuisance of themselves.
I agree totally. Burke has gone through a pattern this season. Starting, and being disappointing. Dropped and coming off the bench and making a huge impact. Back in the team, disappointing and so on...we need a more consistent and to be honest a better player playing on the right wing. There is a chant at CCS about Burke being better than Routledge but I'd have Routledge over Burke every time. Since Bothroyd joined us we have gone from being mid table looking up at the play-offs and wishing it was us to being a team that fought for the play-offs and considered one of the top sides in the Championship. I don't think it is a co-incidence, he adds so much to our team up top. If he hadn't got injured in the play-off final last year I think we would have won it.
Glad to see you boys getting rid of the deadwood, with two or three youth coming through, and some clever experienced signings, and cut down on the Loanee's, then I can see the Blue Phoenix rising from the ashes!..... please log in to view this image
I think we will be ok, big huge wages are slowly but surely dissappearing not only in Championship and 1 and 2 but also the Prem, there will be so many out of contract playeres released this summer that the Championship clubs will be able to pick and choose, and with a shrewd manager in place, someone could get a fantastic team of players on quite a low budget, i would like to see Cardiff go in for an unproven performer at our level like Le Fondre who surely deserves a chance at a higher lever, and what would his wage demands be like ? Nothing like some of the moneygrabbing pre maddona's out there. DJ has done a fine job on a shoestring budget over the years and has got us to where we are now, but personally i would like to see a younger hungry manager to take the helm, and i dont care if the appointment upsets some of the fans, enough is enough and i want to see some changes. I hope we get Bellers as a player coach, i hope we keep Gerrard. As for Betty going well so be it, but and it is a big but, has he really gone or will he be back next year ? Chopra needs to sort his act out, but i think he can regain his form. Our defence does need looking at and the daft mistakes have to be stopped, imo Bywater cost us promotion and i think his bad goalkeeping may have affected the moral at the club, a half fit Heaton and his superior distribution would have been better than the disaster that was Bywater. I look forward to the new season with anticipation and hope and i am sure we will be ok
