Match facts Cardiff have lost three home league games at the Cardiff City Stadium against Middlesbrough - against no side have they lost more (also three against Hull and Newcastle). None of the last 23 league meetings between these sides has ended as a draw (12 wins for Cardiff, 11 wins for Middlesbrough). Neil Warnock has won all seven of his home league matches (including play-offs) against Middlesbrough. Cardiff could be the seventh different club with whom he has won home games against Boro (also Notts County, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, QPR, Leeds and Rotherham). Tony Pulis and Warnock haven't faced since November 2011, when Warnock's QPR won 3-2 at Stoke in the Premier League. Boro have a quality team and this represent a real challenge. Does Warnock switch to 5 at the back and drop one of his wingers? Given Madine's continued injury problems, is this the chance for Ken to show us what he's all about and shine? Odds of Gestede scoring against us?
Gestede scored for Blackburn at CCS. Hope he’s not like Steve Thomson who often scored against us after he left. It’ll probably be a tight game with Boro posing a lot more threat than Bolton. Have to be wary of Traore, Assambolonga and Gestade plus a few others. Warnock v Pulis. 2 exceptional managers who’ll be itching to get one over the other. City will have to be strong at the back and not be as wasteful with goal opportunities like they were mid week. A neutral prediction is a low score draw. City need to win this type of game to keep up their top 2 aspirations. Love City to avenge that horrendous 0-3 reverse under Dave Jones when some players were still hung over
The game we were 0-3 down after some twenty minutes at home, going for promotion? Chopra mysteriously on the sideline? Seem to remember the crowd were leaving after their third goal! Prefer to remember the “Greg Farrell” spectacular, winning 5-3 against them, Boro player scoring a ha trick but still on the losing side! Some will not believe this sequence of results over 3 consecutive weeks, probably in the seventies: Sheffield Wednesday 5 Cardiff City 0 Middlesbrough 8 Sheffield Wednesday 0 Cardiff City 3 Middlesbrough 2...always stays with me...Jackie Charlton’s runaway leaders getting beat by a poor city side after those results! Masky, always good for a bit of history pals!
Oh for one of these............ Peter King goal in our 3-4 defeat to Boro in October 1970 Certainly one of my outstanding memories in my formative years - I was 3 then Masky
OK guys just seen team. Going 20 quid on City to win @ 7/5. Also a tenner each on anytime scorers Ralls @ 4/1 Pato @ 6/1 Morro @ 10/1 Bamboo @ 12/ 1 and for a punt, Traore (ours) @ 16/1. Big bet today - that's 70 quid invested.
One of our best defensive performances this season. Etheridge again didn’t have a save to make. Our Traore did well but again Morrison outstanding. Massive 3 points. It’s ours to lose now!
Quality, tough and determined right across the park. Morrison once again head and shoulders (literally) above the Boro defenders. In the centre of the park Ralls, Grujic and Paterson showed a tough Boro midfield all about grit and determination, and didn't big Ken up front try really hard all game. Brilliant result, and with Villa shedding all the points (pity it was to Fulham though), we've got our noses back in front - now let's just stay there.
Watched the highlights last night. Peed off with the analysis. Bruce's lad and some other pundit asked who would join wolves in the automatic slots. Loads of chat on derby and villa who everyone saw as favourites. They were talking as if they had it in the bag. Fulham got a mention. So it looks like a 3 horse race. Not once was Cardiff mentioned. It was like we were in the relegation zone!!!! They must see us as no hopers. Or deem us so unworthy that we dont warrent a mention. A 3 horse race and theyre all behind us. Disgraceful!!!!
Haven't seen any highlights or pundits so far so can't comment on that remote - I will say though that's probably par for the course.
They can talk all they like about other clubs but all you have to do is look at the table. It’s ours to lose. 14 games to go, and a lot of twists and turns to come. I reckon they all fear Cardiff & Warnock.
Great honest article from their local press up there. https://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport...eil-warnocks-cardiff-everything-tony-14304191
Don't think their fans are happy about aspiring to be like us. Shows that big bucks are not needed to be competitive. The thing I'm encouraged by is the depth we've built. With games coming thick and fast everyone will have opportunity for a breather. Badly needed with a high intensity game. We should be able to go flat out to the end of the season.
