So, after a disappointing weekend of results for everyone connected to Arsenal there is a trip to Middlesbrough on Monday night to look forward to. My only real experiences of Middlesbrough were; A) being amazed at how many NF flags that their scummy element of fans once brought to the Lane in the 1980s...all carried by hunch backed mo fos chatting **** about being the master race. How the **** they could could talk such racist filth with that amount of teeth in their mouths is still a complete mystery to me. ( not that I am suggesting they are all inbred ) and B) nearly being chased out of the **** hole of a city when I went up their to see a girlfriend back in the 1980s. Was like something out of Mississipi Burning... got to admit that I didn't realise that the web toed ****wits could run that fast Anyhow...Arsenal are in desperate need of 3 points and , as united are a near certainty to drop points this weekend and Wilshire is bound to break my heart on Saturday this is an opportunity to make up lost ground. As Gooners left Selhurst Park on Monday night it reminded me of when I played a school match when I was 14 or 15 yrs old. A keeper slid out to get a through ball but arrived a fraction of a second after the forward who was sliding in from the other direction. His boot hit the keeper in his nuts, studs first, but momentum meant his foot went on and hit the keeper full in the face. Unfortunately (for the keeper) that was not the end of his nightmare. The ball (football not bollock) rolled back out to an oncoming attacker who managed to hit the prone keeper ( who was laid flat out on his front with his hands holding face and his legs wide apart) in his balls from behind. Once the ref had blown the whistle the full horror was revealed and etched into our brains, never to be forgotten. There was blood, teeth and puke all over and around the keepers face. He didn't really say much (apart from emitting high pitch noises that caused nearby dogs to howl) but most of what he said was abuse aimed at the twenty one 14 or 15 yr olds boys who couldn't help laughing at him being hit full in to balls ... twice...and at how high his voice was! The haunted, confused and betrayed look in his eyes as he was helped off the pitch (taking very small steps and wimpering after each one) was how the Gooners seemed to leave South East London...painful for you lot but funny as **** for everyone else...even though we knew the pain you were in! Anyway back to the match. Boro will line up with; 1x I left CL for this ****e? in goal 4x the rest of the team are **** 1x too **** for even WHUFC Downing 1x can't score 1x can't pass 1x can't tackle 1x where's the goal 1x what's a goal They have an effective tactic of not scoring which they execute really well. Arsenal will line up with 1x WTF...a 3rd choice keeper again? 4x see no tackle, make no tackle 2x what's a tackle? 2x can I have a pay rise 1x effort is so over rated 1x heads Chelsea tails City The tactic will be pray to God that that we dont make this shower of ****e look good. Finally, am I the only one to see the irony in Walcott being in an advert telling children to "try and try again" when the overpaid mo fo hasn't tried once in the last 4 away matches? As per usual I can not wish you luck but I do hope you do not get kicked in the nuts twice in quick succession.
I guess the upside from our horror ending of a season is having remembercolinlee making our match threads. Looking forward to the FA Cup thread...
The other upside is that Arsenal are far more likeable now they are sh*t. I've even started to warm towards Piskie
Not a single result went in Arsenal's favour this weekend. City, Everton, United, Liverpool, Everton and Spurs all won leaving Arsenal in 7th. 3 points tomorrow is an absolute must.
Top four is pretty much over IMO (not that it matters anyway as it wouldn't be a good season even if we'd made it), so it's just a question of where we finish between 5th-7th. The one positive of being in the Europa is that we would have a much better chance at winning it than the CL. Obviously there are still some very gifted teams in there and we may struggle if we have long trips across Europe. But if we did take it seriously, it could be a competition where we would have a decent chance of winning. I'm sick of making up the numbers in the CL and our European trophy haul is catastrophic, so I, for one, wouldn't mind being in the Europa. The flip side, however, is that if Wenger is our manager while we're in the Europa, I think he'll field a youthful side, take no risks with important players and then focus on trying to get back in the Champions League...some people may prefer this, but it'd be nice for us to win a European trophy, especially in a competition where we could have a legitimate chance of progressing in and we could still get Champions League football the following season. Would be a double whammy.
Providing the fans don't burn the stadium down protesting against Wenger...But in all seriousness, i can see some serious fallout if Wenger continues, he has really pissed off a lot of fans and the unrest is considerably more than what we ever been used to under Wenger. It's not a matter of whether it'll get messy, but how messy next season. Do we really want that?
