Saturday, 17 September 2011 Written By Sofcookies Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray has agreed a surprise move for Manchester City starlet Alex Nimely, Nimely joined the the blues in 2008 and has slowly developed into a squad player at City. Making his first team debut last season he remains one for the future at City and has joined the ranks of City players looking for further first team experience out on loan. City bosses seemed keen for the Liberian-born striker to go out on loan to play regularly at a level where City could continue to keep tabs on his development. Manchester City's strength in depth upfront has made it hard for City's youth players to make an impression on the first-team but it remains a priority to bring youth into the set-up and Nimley has age on his side. Abdul Razak has already played for the first team this season but a loan signing for Nimely at this stage of his career development looks the best option. Tony Mowbray has Nimley on an initial three-month loan move and the city starlet should fit straight into the first team set-up at Boro. The City striker will give Mowbray more options up front as they look to gain promotion to the Premier League, Middlesbrough are currently third in the Championship with 14 points from the opening six games. The 20-year-old has played for both Liberia Under 20's and the England Under 20's and is well thought of as a star for the future.
This hopefully will be a good move for the youngster, providing that T. Mowbray will allow him some games during his 3 month loan deal. However if Nimely is only going to be up there to Middlesbrough just to make up the 1st team squad, and he is not going to get any games then there will be no point in this move. If this is the case and Nimely will not be getting any games, then he would be better of going to the likes of Rochdale or Bury where he might stand a better chance of getting some game time. A move to Rochdale would be of benifit to Nimely as he would be under the tutorlage of Steve Eyre who was for a long time the youth team coach at Man City, and I am sure would welcome him with open arms to Rochdale.
