I love this man...he is like a complete manager. I know it is unlikely, but I would love him to be our Arsene Wenger. Meanwhile I shall start laying in the Kleenex for when he eventually leaves. Pleased he said today that he likes to respect contracts.
If we get that "marker result" on Sunday, and if Shane Long scores twice, then I'll begin to believe. Don't think I'd ever bet against Ron. But the article rightly states the squad lacks strength in depth.
The thing I like the most about the matches against top opposition is that it's the only time when the national papers journalist bother to write an article or two about Southampton.
His contract is for 3 years. I think we've got him for that length of time. After that we'll see. He may decide to stay if Saints are willing to have him.
Incidentally, it was quite interesting to read some of the previous related articles. The Guardian were quite positive about Saints from pre-season onward. Nothing like most of the media. They even recognised that Saints fans were not all doom and gloom, but in a wait and see collective frame of mind.
Thankfully they don't tend to get pulled into the mainstream sensationalism. I was pleased, as they're my paper of choice, that they didn't follow suit.
I don't buy newspapers these days, but when I did it was the Guardian, so same here. You could do a lot worse than work for them, DTLW.
