Gonna end up at SAFC? Borini's future will be in England. With His decisive goals and excellent perfromances, he established Himself at Sunderland. Black Cats want to redeem the player from Liverpool, but the gap between offer and request is still too large. Sunderland offer £ 8 million plus £ 2 million in bonuses. Liverpool is asking for £ 12.5 million. At Liverpool or at Sunderland, Borini's future will certainly be in the Premier League. http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calc...to-redeem-borini-the-figures-and-the-details/ Will the Suarez stuff make it more difficult?
I hope it's with SAFC. Having supported this lot for a lot of years and been thru a lot more lows than highs I finally believe that in Gus we can get back to or even surpass the Reidy years.
Sunderland have made their move to make Fabio Borini a permanent addition to the squad, according to a report by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio. Quality players coming in on loan and then disappearing into the sunset never to be seen in red and white again has become a familiar sight for Sunderland fans in recent years, and Borini was thought to be just the latest to follow in the footsteps of Jonny Evans, Danny Welbeck, and Danny Rose in returning to impress at their parent clubs following a temporary switch to the north east. That may not be the case, though, with the report suggesting a £8m bid has been made with a further £2m to follow. However, whilst Liverpool are said to be willing to let the Italian leave, it is believed they have asked for £12.5m. It's difficult to really judge the credibility of this story in truth. If this was last summer, you could hang your hat on it. Di Marzio clearly had very good links with former Director of Football Roberto De Fanti and his record in all things Sunderland was pretty much immaculate. However, this summer his record is considerably patchier without that direct link inside the club, as evidenced by his recent story insisting Vito Mannone had thrown a mardy and submitted a transfer request following the signing of Costel Pantilimon - a story the former Arsenal 'keeper angrily denied in the press this week.
I stil don't get the clamour for this. £10m will be a massive proportion of our budget for the year, and we already have Giacherrini who can play in that opsition and now has a year of experience in England under his belt. Yes I like Borini, but I think there are places we need to spend the money far more urgently than a position where we already have an Italian internationnal...
Sign him up pronto! Him and Giacc could form the basis for our attack, with one of Connor, Jozy and Fletch (if fit) providing the holding/big lad role. We need some width as well, but the problem for me has been the coherence with which we move forward. Or rather the lack of it. Something I hope Gomez and a few more attacking midfielder signings will help with.
You do realise that 'that' Position is not his natural position, I know we've got 3 similar strikers already at the club and we don't have a striker like Borini in the squad, He's Versatile yes but surely you can see he played that position out of nacesity not choice, Giacc was very slowly adapting and we had nobody else. You must have noticed the press have spoke about him fighting for his place against Suarez and Sturridge not fighting for his place against Sterling and Alberto, We'll struggle to get a striker in with his capabilities and his age for less then 10m. He'll play that inside left position, he may need to at first if Giacc still isn't ready. But for me he's a striker. He took his goals in the cup final and against WBA like the true striker he is. Big game player who scores big game goals, sign him up for me like.
Liverpool may want to hang onto Borini until the January window due to the Suarez suspension. Barcelona are said to be readying an £80m bid for Suarez, which includes a couple of players, so Liverpool might want to keep Borini a tad longer. This might give Borini a run in the Liverpool first team giving him the opportunity to prove himself with a "top" Champion League club.
If we get Sanchez, Shaqiri or indeed both then Borini is surely gone. Suarez aside we'd have Sturridge and Lambert for the centre plus Sanchez can play there. If Suarez stays there's no room for Fabio at all really.
hopefully we can get him signed. we know exactly what to expect so know what were getting, also he knows all about us so there's no surpises. showed his quality last year in a team that was largely **** for most of the season. no brainer for me
I appreciate that but he is competing with Wickham / Jozy / Fletcher for that role. Wickham we need to be blooding in the prem this season, and Jozy I personally think can still be a really decent player for us once he gets some confidence (I know others will strongly disagree here but lets not get into that again....). IF we keep Fletch (doubt this personally) that's another proven Prem striker vying for the spot so, once again, we are splashing £10m on a position we already have covered decently... I'd still rather that money is spent elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, I loved Fabio I just think we need other positions filled mcuh more urgently and £10m is probably half our budget blown for the summer on a player we don't really need.
See there's where I disagree. I think we have numbers with no variation. Wickham, Jozy and Fletch are far to simillar. I think we only need one them at the club, hypothetically you wouldn't have Owen, Lineker and Fowler as all your striking options would you? too similar, like you wouldn't have Cantona, Bergkamp and Zola all in the same squad competing for one position, again too similar. I rate Jozy too but I just don't see why we need all three of them when we can bring players in other something different as well as the ability attack from all positions which Borini would bring. Of the three we're on about, Wickham's acceleration is the stand out factor which gives him the edge over the other two for me.
Fair point although I personally still think other positions are more urgent I agree he'd be useful to have in the squad. Is that worth blowing half our transfer budget on though? For me no, although it's all about opinions
Well aye mate. We need to strengthen everywhere. We will need to utilise the loan market. It depends on who's available at the right price how the transfer money is spent. Just hope we've got all positions covered one way or another.
Same mate, I'm already worrying things aren't moving fast enough and the transfer window's not even open yet!!
Lallana to liverpool for medical. Coincidence that reports show we're making our move for Borini now? Got a feeling that a deal is close to being struck for Fabio, close enough for Liverpool to start making their moves.
