NO DOUBTING THE SILLY SEASON IS ON US!

Italian giants Roma linked with move for Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers

BRENDAN RODGERS is again being touted as the man to take the helm at one of Europe’s biggest clubs – with Italian giants Roma the latest to be linked with a move for the Swansea City manager. Rodgers, 39, has been described as being high on the short-list of the Serie A outfit after Luis Enrique’s Giallorossi exit last week.

Fabio Borini, who was such a hit during his loan spell with the Swans when they were promoted to the Premier League under Rodgers, plays for Roma these days and is bound to have spoken highly of his former manager. The plaudits continue to roll in for Rodgers’ Swans, with Liverpool striker Luis Suarez the most recent to pay tribute to theWelsh club. “I also have to say that Swansea City was a pleasant surprise,” said Suarez in an interview on his season with Spanish sports paper Marca. “They always tried to play football with short-pass combinations and they didn't care what zone of the field they were at, or even if it was the goalkeeper or the striker who had the ball.” - Chris Wathan

lots of twists and turns to come yet. this is just the start of the silly season and brendan is hot property here and abroad....I hope we can keep him with us and he dont get his head turned to foreign land employment..<ok> If it was in spain i would be more worried as he is fluent in spanish and spends all his spare time there.

I think that brendan learnt a gr8 deal about what happened at reading and will not slip into that mistake again of being courted out of a club when.things are progressing well, may be my.blind faith in.the manager but as a lot of players have realised l8ly the grass isn't always greener <whistle>

I really can't see him going any where in the foreseeable future, silly season has started ,(nice to put a cheeky bid in for Borini) Italian football is in crisis at the moment with all the match fixing under investigation.

I just read this article on the way home from work and thought exactly that. The old Roma manager bought a lot of youth players, it hasnt worked and he has left..if we have any chance of getting Borini back on loan or anything, then now is the time to do it. Here is to hoping that whoever the new Roma manager is, Borini doesnt play....think that will be unlikely though seeing as he is in the Italy Euro 2012 team

Well if Borini wants to work with Brendan again the answer is simple. Sign for the Swans!

Whatever happened to Borini's letter? According to Rodgers he wrote a lovely letter to the fans (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/13614689) so where was it?

I always find it strange that he went to Parma to then be loaned out to a better team. Sounds dodgy. Surely Parma would want to keep the better players for themselves.

No idea about the letter, but Parma has got form for doing this, they have loads of players on their books that are out on loan. Think they hope to make a profit on an investment if someone is successful elsewhere. It's like renting a house you get a return in the future upon selling. And they get a fee for putting players on loan.
