I was well happy when we signed Borini, lets hope there are more goals to come.

Fabio Borini has revealed how his maiden Liverpool goal felt like the first of his entire career after he struck in Thursday's Europa League victory over FC Gomel.

The Italy forward marked his debut appearance at Anfield for the Reds with the opener - a clinical first-time volley - in a 3-0 success over the Belarusian side to help Brendan Rodgers' charges book a place in the Europa League play-offs.

The goal capped a lively display from our summer signing, and afterwards Borini couldn't hide his joy at an occasion that will forever live in his memory.

"It was absolutely a day to remember," he told Liverpoolfc.com. "The fans were amazing and the atmosphere was unbelievable, just for a Europa League qualifier. To also get a goal was amazing.

"It felt like it was the first goal I had scored in my entire career. I tried to celebrate as I did for my first goal in Serie A."

He added: "Since I signed, I've wanted to score my first goal as soon as possible. I got my first here at Anfield, which was very nice, and now I will carry on working.

"The goal will help me continue to settle in - goals always help."

Thought he played ok. Worked hard, had a few nice touches and scored with a decent finish. Time will tell how he fairs against better quality defences but goals bring confidence and being a good goalscorer is so much about confidence <ok>. Good start...celebration is rubbish but the more we see of it the happier I'll be :)

Went last night and couldn't help thinking Mandy would have bagged a goal or two with the amount of crosses we put in. Hope he gets a chance to shine as well.

thought the team gave the work and that gave the crowd the encouragement. borini i think was lost in suarez's brilliance as everything went through him. downing was too. gerrard and squarez were just right on the same wave length. Borini can improve from that i think. link with suarez and gerrard and form a partnership when he understands where they'll put it.

gomel were fodder really, borini and downing stayed wide as instructed and suarez found all the space... it'll be interesting to see us against a tight back 4.

It will be interesting to see how defences handle the rotation of our strikers.

I thought Borini was fantastic last night, he was always up there to get on the end of something when Suarez showed his moments of brilliance.

If those two can form an even better understanding I look forward to seeing even more.

Firstly I thought Borini was a poacher, I had second thoughts, and okay one swallow doesn't make a summer, but he's a real livewire, that can only be a good thing. He just brightened the place up with his movement. He's a clever player for one so young.

Yeah, last night showed that we could see a front 3 of...

    Borini...Carroll...Suarez

...at times during the season. Before I thought it would either be Borini or Carroll.

He can play anywhere in that front 3. Good free kick taker on the right hand side of the box.
