Four police officers in Northern Ireland have been suspended over claims they exchanged racist and sectarian text messages. Their mobile telephones have also been confiscated and examined. Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) deputy Chief Constable Judith Gillespie said: "The message is going out loud and clear - this racist and sectarian behaviour will not be tolerated." The four were interviewed after the texts were allegedly discovered when officers belonging to the PSNI's professional standards department were investigating an unrelated internal matter. None of the four are of senior rank. It is understood no members of the public received any of the messages. The deputy Chief Constable said the allegations would be treated with the utmost gravity. She added: "I would be confident that if you had access to any of these texts would find them deeply offensive." Earlier, the police said in a statement: "The Police Service is proud of its reputation for delivering a personal, professional and protective policing service to the people of Northern Ireland, and we expect our staff to behave ethically and with the utmost integrity at all times both on and off duty. "Any officer who fails to abide by the high standards of behaviour expected of all officers as laid out in our code of ethics can expect to be rigorously investigated." Discus Javelin 5k Walking race
i take your four racists and raise you 8 have been suspended in england english are more racist than irish ha ha
They've done wrong and are being punished, seems reasonable. What's with the sports list, are you trying to promote the upcoming Olympics?
I wont have a bad word said about the boys in GREEN. A fine body of men (soon to be paid in euros) which Ireland can be proud of
The Euro - great for the German economy, bad for every other country tied to it. Especially the tiddlers.
We had this debate the other day, I put up a wikipedia link to countries sorted by average wage but you chose to ignore it. I expect you've got a nice housae as in Ireland you can buy a mansion in several acres for the price of an ex-council terrace in Essex.
You can buy four houses in central Belfast for the price of one in central Dublin - this is a good thing for Belfast as Dublin is far too expensive, but is also an indicator of the lack of wealth on the UK side of the border. Old industrial UK cities outside of south east England have been in managed decline for years.
I see. Fun with rounding errors. I can prove that 1 is the smallest integer, it's about the only thing I remember from college.
Had a quick look at property in Dublin with max price E250k, it's a large town so obviously differs by area but seems you'd pay a little less than I paid for the ex-council terrace in Essex (thankfully long since sold). Compare with London prices and Dublin looks as cheap as chips.
