Bootlegs. Used to be hard to come by at one time. But thanks to the internet, if it's out there, chances are that somebody somewhere has uploaded onto You Tube. An early one from OASIS. I`ve got a fair few from king tuts in Glasgow of gigs that I was at that I still regularly listen to - long ryders ,green on red, drive by truckers etc....you`re right though, the bootleg has lost some of its mystical quality now due to the internet....on a side note ladyrogueleader recently bought a pile of girly-pop music for our six year old daughter ( allegedly ) that she seen in a sale - spice girls/kylie/etc etc..... Imagine my horror when I went into the music room to find these things not only in there but actually placed beside and touching my Bob Dylan bootlegs ... I mean , for **** sake that's just unacceptable. I don't wish to come across as sexist but WIMMIM HAVE NO ****ING IDEA Sometimes
I used to love going to camden of a Saturday morning and scouring through dodgy bootleg tapes. You never knew quite what you were going to get in terms of the quality - soemtimes perfect other times you ended up hearing only 2 girls saying rather loudly "oh look - there's a man with a tape player - let's take really loudly right through the gig so that it ruins his recording and he won't be able to sell his tapes" That worked
I used to do the same at the Barrows in Glasgow. A wee suggestion for your old tapes Dan. Say that the two lassies are Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse and make a mint on e bay
The trouble was that most of them sounded like they had been recorded in a never ending flushing toilet.
A big bump..... The full bootleg of The Clash at Gateshead in 85'.
