8 to play, essentially a five point gap if you count goal difference which we now have to, we travel to Mick's old stomping ground in Wolves. To be honest, this is the kind of fixture you want in my eyes - not a Rotherham fighting and beating all the top sides, or a play off/ top side. A mid table side planning for next season is much the fixture I would like about now. Not that I'm massively confident of winning this one! Murphy has become injured on international duty, lets see how bad that is. I can only assume by Mick's honest admission after Rotherham Feeney / Pringle will start this and he'll try to take the game to the opposition a bit more. Sometimes back against the wall is the best position to be - not that I want to be in that position! Defeat and a win for Wendy/ Derby I would think the season is as good as done. Fortunately Derby travel to Cardiff which helps us and Huddersfield should be motivated by a local derby. Here's hoping. Can we get our season back on track? Anyone going? I was tempted to go but to be honest, go and watch this or carry on playing footy while I can? I'll play and watch scores. COYB. I think we'll draw and it'll be even more difficult. 1-1 sounds right. That said, 1-1 may be disappointing but we do host Charlton who look down and potential summer holiday Brentford. Very good chance of 7/9 this week, and should we achieve that I can only imagine we'll have closed the gap. This week coming could be the final hurrah. Mick, if we're not going to make the play offs at least pick a bold side and show that the hands up admission from Rotherham wasn't just a publicity stunt. Sidenote - having looked at Wendy / Derby's remaining games, Derby have some horrific fixtures coming up. They may be the catchable side of the 2.
At least a draw from this one. Looking at the remaining fixtures, if we pick up some form I can see another 15 points. This includes a defeat to Boro, Wednesday and a draw with Derby on the final day. 73 points, will it be enough?
Naturally, it's always fairly quiet on here during the international weeks. Having said that, I was actually entertained watching an England match! I'm not the most patriotic of guys, but I'll always support our country at the big football tournaments (not overly interested during the qualification stage, which, let's be honest, is always a bit of a cakewalk). As for the trip to Wolves, I predict a narrow 1-0 defeat. I'm not completely sure why, maybe it's the poor form, the injuries, or the apparent diminishing confidence within this squad, but I can't see why people are getting optimistic over this one. Still, I like being proved wrong when I'm pessimistic about Town.
I thought the England match was good too, Nuggets. Defending was still terrible but I saw more players comfortable with the ball than I've seen in a long time from the national team. Alli and Dier will have a long England career ahead, I like seeing club partnerships in international teams and a spine of Kane, Alli and Dier looks like the way forwards. The sooner Stones can replace Cahill the better. I'm not bothered if Rooney plays now at all. It's time to fit him into the team rather than make the team around him. It was a good match, we counter attacked quickly and got the ball forward as soon as possession was turned over, I was impressed by our display for a change.
Not going despite it being local. Feels a shame but can't justify it. Get the feeling we'll come out winners but it won't be pretty.
How local is local Mike? Gotta be worth going to surely with it being the back end of the season if you haven't got anything else on!?
Spanish he's back fit - what are we meant to do !? Gotta be on the bench surely that's the right call? Wish he could stay fit though! Well based on us having the two wide boys it was clearly gonna be Skuse + one other. I would have gone Foley as he's done quite well in there. COYB.
Exactly westy, how does Douglas keep his place when absolutely everybody says he is gash, only one person seems to see something in him! Sorry but Didz has done nothing for a few seasons now, would rather someone like Doz got a spot on the bench!
I know what you are saying but the guy has not exactly shown a real desire for a couple of seasons now. I would rather give a young hungry player a spot on the bench!
Dids did very well the first half of last year until injured - the past 18 months he's hardly been fit to offer anything regularly enough!? Sounds as though we've been marginally the better side?
Just got in....all to play for, Kitchen sink time boys! McG to casually lope on and score the winner! COYB
Tony Cottee watching the game for sky said, as expected, it's a dire game! Says it all really! The sooner MM ****s off to Villa, the better!
