We need clever forwards, not necessarily one who bangs them in match after match because he gets 10 chances, at Swansea we dont get as many chances as Chelsea. Yesterday Bony had the chance to challenge for two curled crosses, he just stood still ... didnt bother and I was wondering, why the heck isnt the guy at least trying? I agree with many that he is not provided as a striker should be, but apart from Michu we apparant dont have a very creative team ... Michu and Shelvey are the ones with the most vision in our game, JDG too when he decides to play a good game. Anyone remember how Anelka played against us? thats the type of striker we need, creative, mobile and willing to run without the ball being in site. We are still a small team, we cant afford to have lazy world class strikers doing nothing. How good is Bony? ... he could be excellent at Chelsea or Man. City, teams who produce lots of chances .. but we dont, and probably never will, we cant afford peope like Fabregas to set up plays. We need a playing forward, someone who will die for the team ... not a static target man. Regardless of how good he is.
it's been a few games he's had, and although I'm not writing him off yet I am feeling disappointed with him and was hoping for more from him.
I have to say Bony looked extremely dejected when he was subbed last night. The crowd gave him a decent round of applause which should give him some encouragement, but things ain't going well for him at all. We've got one striker who is immobile and ineffective (in terms of goals scored) and another striker (Vasquez) who IS mobile but equally ineffective. Yes, Vasquez is young and hasn't had much game time, I know. But it's not a good position to be in. Many have posted that our style of play doesn't suit Bony and there may well be mileage in that. I'm wondering whether we'll revert to playing Michu up front again soon. I don't have much confidence that the lack of goals from Bony/Vasquez will be resolved any time soon.
I do, get our wingers some crossing practice, and get Hernandez playing, cos apart from him. our wingers cannot cross for ****. There is something wrong when your full backs cross better than your wingers. And even they aint that great, which you would expect.
I agree with you, we do however need someone who is more mobile and creative upfront. I do hope I am proven wrong, I would to see Bony getting started.
He was creative in a Spanish type of way ......................
....or just play without a striker like Spain did sometimes in the last Euros or World Cup. Our slow, patient build-up play means any number of outfield players can end up in or around the penalty area to score.
He has scored 6 goals in 11 games for us mind you....and a couple of assists. Think he's only played the 90 maybe once or twice as well....I'd say that's pretty effective.
Regardless of what the majority of Swansea fans say, they, like I, expected more from Bony at this stage. Hopefully, he will improve, but taking into consideration his impact on the premier league; there are not many defenders worried about facing him. I really can not remember ever seeing a striker having his back to goal, like he does. The lack of movement off the ball. He doesn't seem to set up goal scoring opportunities. All in all, not the best £13 million Swansea have ever spent. Fingers crossed he will settle down and improve soon.
Quite so. He poked one in against Man Utd and scored a penalty v. Sunderland and the rest, as Daniel points out, have been against poor European sides (I haven't checked - I suppose I should).
