Anyone see Barton barracking Taraabt in the first half utterly disgraceful, Zamora had to coach him and then at the end Mackie lost it with a twat in the upper loft and called him an effing w. Not enough plaster to fill these cracks.
Unlike other teams who when struggle and seem to get closer we seem to be doing the opposite. Looking at the team today only 3 of the starting 11 will be around next year if we get relegated. We dont have any real affiliation with the players. They've all recently joined and will probably leave for another club at the end of the year. That's the biggest problem I had with Hughes's appointment. If we go down he'll piss off and have another job at Christmas. The club doesnt mean enough to a lot of the staff and players. Last year we were individuals playing as a team. This year we're nidividuals playing for a club.
Spot on Scotland.... We don't have any die-hards playing. Well, perhaps Hill, Derry, HH and Kenny do give a monkeys. Defo get the feeling that at best most of these goons are playing for themselves rather than the club. Miss the likes of Bircham, Cook and Rowlands. P.s why did we ever sell Gorkks?
just think, all those mercenaries wont go away, theyre all 30 and will never get another contract like we gave them, its disgusting the players we have bought. I said all season wee should be buying younger players, Id rather see Rhodes out there busting a gut than zamora coasting along all game.
I disagree. If we had bought youth and suffered similar results, then we would be opining that we should have bought players with pedigree and EPL experience.
But the youth would have grown into it, i could have suffered going down with a young team, as it is, we have a team with an average age of over 30 on massive contracts and we will be stuck with them, we are only a small step away from Pompey. No one in their right mind would take SWP, Barton or zamora off us.
I see your point here, but you've got to acknowledge that the risk is greater in buying youth in the transfer window. Perhaps in the Summer, I agree, but MH had a fortnight to assess and buy. I can fully understand the rationale.
Hi, Flyer, You are so right sad to say, I remember our youth team in 1966/7 mostly unknown but see what happened? won a CUP and went up to div; 2. How times have changed!
Barton has failed to live up to the hype that greeted his arrival. Today, amongst the misplaced passes and the wandering back into his defensive position, he made some decent tackles and interceptions: a mixed bag imo and certainly not a captain's performance. Similarly, Taraabt is frustrating: he often looks like our most dangerous and creative player but, then, today, there were a host of misplaced passes and tame shots when he might have passed. What is bang out of order is for our captain to barrack Taraabt. Barton is not stupid: he should know that this is not the way to get the best out of AT. Tidy up your own game first, Joey, and show a bit more passion elsewhere rather than picking on someone who seems considerably more gifted than you.
Problem is we are not a team unlike Norwich and Swansea. Just a team of individual egos with a few exceptions. Not Mark Hughes fault although dont like all these untested premiershipship players that ive never heard of coming into the team at the moment.
They all came sight-seeing in London. A nice holiday for them coming from another place! They wanted to see what London was all about!
