    TEAM NEWS

New signings David Ngog, Tuncay Sanli and Gael Kakuta are all pushing for starts after playing for Bolton's reserves against Arsenal on Wednesday.

Stuart Holden is close to returning after six months out with a knee injury but is unlikely to feature.

Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy returns after a one-match ban and James Vaughan has recovered from his clash with West Brom's Gabriel Tamas last week.

Winger Anthony Pilkington should return from a back injury.

    MATCH PREVIEW

With only five points on the board between them, it's not been a great start to the season by either of these two.

How different it looked for Bolton after their opening day 4-0 win at QPR just over a month ago. Since then they've shipped three goals to Manchester City and at Liverpool before being comprehensively sunk by five-star Manchester United last weekend.

Paul Lambert's Canaries could help themselves by not conceding any more penalties - they've had one given against them in every league match so far this season

True, it's been a tough run of fixtures to begin with, but the stats going back to last season look worse than ugly now - with Owen Coyle's side having lost eight of their last nine Premier League games.

Norwich have yet to win since their top-flight return, but it's early days and I'd certainly expect them to be celebrating victory a lot sooner than they did in their last Premier League season seven years ago. Nigel Worthington's team didn't get three points from a game until their 14th attempt, in late November.

Paul Lambert's Canaries of today could help themselves by not conceding any more penalties - they've had one given against them in every league match so far this season, equalling a four-in-a-row record set by Wimbledon in 1999.

Before the chirping begins, I am aware that at least two of the decisions have been somewhat harsh! Howard Webb will be the man making the calls this time.

The last three instances of this fixture have all finished 1-0 to Bolton, with Norwich having failed to score in all four previous visits to the Reebook. Their last win away to Bolton came at Burnden Park in March 1982. Will any visiting fans this weekend be genuinely able to say "I was there"?

    MATCH FACTS

    Head-to-head

    * This will be only the seventh top-flight meeting between the two clubs, and the third in the Premier League.
    * The sides have met 34 times in league competition - each has 13 wins.

    Bolton

    * Bolton have lost their last four Premier League home games - if they lose against Norwich it will set a new club record in the top flight.
    * The Trotters' 5-0 defeat by Manchester United last weekend was their heaviest at home in the league since a 6-0 loss to the same opposition in February 1996 - a season that ended in relegation.
    * They need to score twice to total 300 home goals in the Premier League.
    * Striker Kevin Davies picked up his 100th yellow card in the Premier League against Manchester United. He is the second player to reach this milestone, behind Lee Bowyer.

    Norwich

    * The Canaries have gone 32 Premier League away games without a win - one away from matching Fulham's record barren spell of 33.
    * Norwich have conceded in each of their last 16 Premier League away games, which is the longest streak of any team currently in the division.
    * David Fox could make the 150th league appearance of his career.
