So becomes the end of our season, and with the exception of the Bournemouth game, where we can seriously damage their chances of automatic promotion if it continues to remain tight at the top of the table, the remainder of games do not really carry any significance. This game is such one, albeit last seasons game at the Valley was a cracker! Both teams so far have done enough to secure championship safety, and quite possibly both sides will rotate the squads to give some youngsters or those needing match time a chance. Current Form: Bolton | L W D W D L (Home) Charlton | W L W W L D (Away) Head-To-Head: We have to go back to 15th December 2012, since Bolton Wanderers last beat Charlton Athletic (previous before that 26th August 2006), running out 2 - 0 winners, with both goals coming from Ngog. Since then there has been 2 draws, and 2 Charlton wins, the most recent on 21st October 2015, one of Neil Lennon's first games in charge, goals coming from Tucudean and Jackson. Line Up: please log in to view this image Expect changes from both managers, given the un-importance of the game late into the season. Outcome: From previous head-to-head records, it appears that Bolton Wanderers are not that lucky against us. That said, they have seen a better return since Lennon took charge. I'm not expecting a thrilling game. Bolton Wanderers 1 - 1 Charlton Athletic Le Fondre Watt
Good report! Have my doubts about this game, think we will tinker around with church being given another opportunity. Is TBH out? As I'd like to see him and Gomez at the back. Eagles I'd like to see somewhere else other than the left. I know he can play there, but I think he's best off the striker/s. Going 2-1 Bolton. JBG 3 in 3
Maybe Mitov will go in goal to compensate for our non-scoring strikers. What has happened to all those 3-0's anyway? It's time Igor got his mojo back so I'll go 1-1, (Igor).
He's done a bit of squad rotation, and it seems since that has occurred, we don't score as much. Didn't Igor score the other day, against Fulham?
That was Gudmundsson. Igor doesn't offer much of a threat these days, those early season days when he was banging them in are a distant memory. Don't really know why I fancy him to get one tonight.
I've been trying to find out when he last scored. I swear it was during our recent run, of good form, after the Norwich match. Maybe I'm wrong?
I do like this match thread model; not sure how no-one had thought of the vote thing before. I'm going for a Charlton win. Both teams are probably on their holidays but I would hope the mix of our superior quality and the fact that most of our players are playing for their futures (be that with us or elsewhere!) should see us come out on top.
As opposed to trying out youth players, maybe we need to try and find out what has happened to igor, and how to remedy it.
Why does he keep takingTony Watt off, the only player we have who holds the ball, when we're 1-0 up? Anyone?
Well that game was predictable! Only mistake was that Bulot scored instead of Watt. Another two points dropped. Something we seriously need to sort out next season, albeit with our current managerial turnaround, with someone else at the helm (this time next year).
I wonder why you say that? Sounds like a good away point gained to me, same as at Sheffield. Two points I didn't expect. I totally missed out on the audio commentary, thanks to a local emergency. But from the BBC stats it sounds as though we did well to hang on to a point: Bolton 60% possession 23 shots to our 10 10 corners to our one. On the other hand we had six shots on target to their two, so maybe you are right. Good to see Wiggins played the whole 90 mins although we still had a sub to spare. How did he do?
Someone should check if Bob Peeters is still alive, as Guy Luzón seems to be channelling his spirit. I'll say nothing as yet, as it's the end of season and he has the luxury of being able to try a few things out, but the momento Cousins get's moved out wide.....
I like what Guy Luzon says here. http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/sport/..._draw_with_Trotters__feels_like_we_lost_4_0_/
I think I know where you're coming from, as I just had a similar thought whilst reading his reaction. Can't put my finger on it.
Very tedious and mundane end to the season. Despite the faux enthusiasm displayed by some, the Club has been noticeably quiet on the number of ST renewals. Personally I am giving the Leeds game a miss on Saturday as I have almost totally lost interest for this season. I have already bought Birmingham away tickets and will be at the Bournemouth promotion party. I just wish there was a South London version of Sir Jack Hayward out there - a red blooded, ruddy faced Englishman with deep pockets and a generous spirit who could rescue CAFC from this ghastly experiment which is doomed to end in abject failure. The thought of watching Luzon and his rag bag collection of overseas non entities next season fills me with apathy.
I'm feeling a similar kind of apathy to Royston. I went to Stevenage last night to tick another ground off (Simon Walton and Dean Parrett featuring for Stevenage) and, having heard that we were 1-0 up, only felt the mildest tinge of disappointment when I saw that we had conceded an equaliser and drawn. In the same vein I won't be at The Valley on Saturday, as I'm going to Kenilworth Road instead to visit another ground I haven't seen before. Re Watt being taken off - might his fitness still be an issue? That was why he never lasted a full game when he first came here, perhaps that's why Luzon keeps taking him off. It's the only explanation I can think of, as with his ability to hold the ball up he is invaluable when we are trying to protect a lead.
