Bad news for our next opponents... please log in to view this image Financially troubled Bolton expect to receive further bad news in the next few days in the form of a winding-up petition from Revenue & Customs. Bolton owe about £600,000 in unpaid taxes and have £172.9m of debt. The Championship's bottom club did not pay senior players in November and need £15m to get to the end of the season. Takeover talks have been held with four parties but unless a deal is done, they face the threat of administration and a 12-point deduction. A consortium involving former striker Dean Holdsworth is thought to be the preferred bidder, though the structure of that deal is complex and is thought to involve an element of borrowing. Should that group not take over, and no alternative buyer is found, Bolton's financial adviser Trevor Birch would have to look at alternative options, which could see the club end up in administration. Owner Eddie Davies brought in Birch to lead takeover discussions, with chairman Phil Gartside understood to be gravely ill. Gartside's family have requested privacy. Davies has agreed to write off the £172.9m he has loaned the club in order to push through a deal but is refusing to put in any further funds. Administration would leave Bolton, who reached the last 16 of the Uefa Cup in 2008 and were only relegated from the Premier League in 2012, 16 points adrift of safety. Speaking last week, Birch described Bolton's situation as "increasingly perilous", adding "new investment is needed quickly". http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35034077?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=BBC
Sounds familiar, they might not end up as fortunately as us, lets hope that something gets sorted for them.
Sad especially when it was not that long ago that most clubs promoted to the PL used Bolton as the model club. Now some mention Swansea City and they now seam to be slipping a bit. On the field at least.
These things bring the football family together. Let's help Bolton out by making a big gesture and loaning them a player four times capped for England.
The best way to help them , would be to blitz em off the pitch by smashing 6 or 7 past em. It'll do wonders for their clarity. Reckon we should Do em at least , that as a favour.
I like Bolton - proper football club who through no fault of the fans have been run beyond their means. I used to work with a Bolton ST holder and I went to quite a few home games with him when I lived in the north west and couldn't get home to see City. Nice club, doesn't look great from the outside. I hope for the sake of their fans something gets sorted.
Agreed, founder members of the Football League with a history that a lot of established PL teams would be proud to have - good luck to 'em.
I recall it well Chazz, happened when big Sam Allardyce tried to block Lyall's shot for an equalising goal, despite it being at the clock end of the ground I heard the crack halfway up Bunkers!
I was about twenty feet from John Welsh when he snapped his, I still shudder when I think about the sound of it cracking.
I once saw (and heard) my mate break his ankle and leg. I laughed. Still laugh about it today. Was a very nasty break though. Served him right.
