Probably not the move he foreseen when he left..

FORMER Sunderland skipper Bolo Zenden is in talks over a potential deal at Championship basement boys Doncaster Rovers.

The 35-year-old (pictured) has been without a club since rejecting the prospect of a new deal at Sunderland last season after growing frustrated at a lack of first-team opportunities.

A summer move to be reunited with his former Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren at Nottingham Forest fell through, while Zenden spent a week earlier this month training with SPL giants Celtic.

Zenden could not agree a deal at Parkhead though and Doncaster hope the ex-Dutch international can be the latest former Premier League player to arrive at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Ex-Sunderland misfits El Hadji-Diouf and Pascal Chimbonda have both signed deals with Rovers since agent Willie McKay was appointed as the club’s transfer advisor.

McKay confirmed talks were underway with Zenden and West Brom striker Marc-Antoine Fortune, who Rovers hope to sign on loan before today’s loan deadline.

The agent said: “We’ve spoken to Bolo. He played for Celtic in a friendly against St Johnstone. I’m a Celtic fan myself and I was told he was outstanding. But he couldn’t agree anything there and we’ve been in contact with him

He's probably not expecting miracles at the age of 35, but hey, regular football is regular football.

Could still make it in the EPL imo.

Will be a great signing for Donny.

Sort of player Donny seem to be going for can see that happening. Think it would be a good signing for them, as whenever I watched Sunderland over the last 2 years he looked one of the better players and certainly better than Henderson.

I still think he could do a job for us to be honest.

I'd take both him and Steed back at the drop of a hat. If we are not going to play Gardener then get Steed back? At least he offered a forward thinking option.

It's been mentioned by a wiser head than mine, many a time. I guess his face just doesn't fit with those running the training ground?
