http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28742392 BBC Football "expert" Phil McNulty has tipped us for the title for the second year running. He has an abysmal record of predicting PL Champions. (Like Predicting Liverpool would win the league in 2010 when they finished 7th). He predicted us to win last season which I found odd, only about 25 games in did I start to believe last year and even then I felt for sure something would go wrong (as it did). I honestly think we will win this season, but having the backing of this Douchebag doesn't bode well!
Coincidentally I found my thread from last season where I said pretty much the same thing.... http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/224860-McNulty-tips-us-for-the-title!-s**t
I see he is also tipping us to miss out on the top 4, you would think these pundits would learn their lesson, we have been hearing that for the last 6 years.
Aye, if there is one thing you can count on, as much as the sun setting, it is that Arsenal, however inept tactically their manager is, and however many injuries they get (and they will get a lot), they will finish 4th. They may aswell be called Fourthenal.
To be fair most pundits are backing us, with City just behind. The only thing City need worry about is their hunger, they just won it and a lot of players have got long contracts newly signed which keeps them safe.
It's not hard to see why people are wary re City. They won it by default last year really, last time they won the league they struggled defending it, awful performance at the weekend and surely have to concentrate on C.L this year. They will be there or thereabouts but I wouldn't be surprised to see Chelsea and Arsenal being the main challengers. City could fall a little if Aguero struggles with injuries again for instance.
UnitedinRed on the Man Utd board seems to think City will struggle to make the top 4. Not sure how much of that opinion is based on United bias but I can see his point....kinda.... City do look to be having some morale issues with their squad. They have made some decent signings (mangala) but if Yaya has a hissy fit and Aguero gets injured it could all go tits up for them. I'm still putting them as top 4 though, due to the sheer quality of players at their disposal. If they fail to get top 4 with this squad then Pellegrini needs to be knee capped.
Nah, still cant see City dropping out of the top 4, having thought about it. They just have too much quality....... Even if Yaya stops performing, they still have enough for me to grab a top 4 spot.
If Costa gets the goals, I can see your lot winning the league, but ££££ will put up a stiff resistance even if Yaya has a tantrum
I think pundits often predict the second fabourite just so they look clever and it looks like they're not just going with the obvious choice. Like with the World Cup, the majority went with Argentina without really having much reason behind it. Obviously the Liverpool prediction was just ridiculous though, as is the bias Liverpool always get from the pundits and journos who have connections with them(they even manage to convince others they repeat themselves so often. You are in the best position to win the league this season though. I expect the top 4 to be United, Arsenal, Chelsea and City in one order or another, as any of them can win it and the season always throws up surprises.
The clear favorites are Chelsea and City, but both have owners with egos bigger than the bank balance, so either could sack the manager if things go wrong. United should improve massively If they don't, then Moyes might be forgiven (lol) . As usual, I can't see the Arse being consistent all season, so its their customary fourth spot. Brenda has bought loads of players, bust no real quality. Hope they finish outside the top four, proving last year was a fluke
Last year Liverpool overachieved and they've since sold their best player (by a mile) and now have C.L to contend with. They are not going to be a surprise package anymore and have a lot of new players to bed in. I see a similar scenario to Spurs last year. They'll do better than Spurs and will challenge for top 4 but last year was a chance missed re the title IMO.
Course it can. They overachieved and surpassed all expectation by challenging for the title, but they still missed the opportunity to win it.
Makes sense to me. They overachieved, then blew it with Stevieme's back pass and losing a 3-0 lead at Palace. Two of the happiest moments of my season last year
I rest my case then. BTW the palace result may have been funny, but was irrelevant to the final position.
