if we get past Bolton...i wonder if they will be up for it even more after recent events,or will it work against them. However i think we could topple Chelsea in the semi.
Bolton had a good win today though, so I'm more interested in getting past them first, Dona. Some of our players look pretty leggy and today will have taken quite a bit out of them. It'll be interesting to see what sort of side Redknapp picks on Tuesday.
IF we make it past Bolton. with football being football and the funny old game it is, it's likely they'll beat us and get FA cup glory, as they kiss goodbye to CL football next season. I don't think we'll be fortunate enough to knock them out of the FA cup, and finish above them in the league. football has a strange old way of working itself out. They'll have something to cheer about this season, for sure.
yes i did say if and i dont think its too much to think we are within a chance of beating them ...i wouldnt have been had we managed to lose...but they looked yes leggy, but hungry.
I think todays game will have exhausted the Bolton players mentally as well as physically. I also suspect that Tuesday's return to WHL might well be a wee bit too soon for some of their players. With these factors in mind, and assuming Harry keeps to his word and freshens us up a bit, then I feel reasonaby confident we'll come through what will undoubtedly be an emotional evening.
without sounding too nasty..i hope the emotion does not become a big deal..we need to be professional and should approach it like any other game...or we could fold...ive questioned our mental strength this season at times.
Once the game starts and if any of our players are feeling "emotional" im sure once they are elbowed by a bolton player, they will soon see their senses! Maybe today was the start of our luck turning as we should have won and how vdv missed them two open goals ill never know! but we got a draw, five points clear and i reckon if the players wake up we can get to the final and finish the season with a good run in the league and get champions league footie.
Nah, this is spurs we're talking about and getting a point after our dreadful form away to chelsea, even with missing two open goals, is a sign our luck is changing....we do things the long way!
or perhaps giving chelsea the praise for a few exceptional clearances, is a better idea? most of our opportunities were "saved", rather than missed.
or perhaps a keeper 'should' save a shot straight at him...anywhere but there VdV...anywhere but there!
On another day, another ref may have given Chelsea a penalty or two even though it would've been wrong. I don't think a 0-0 should give us too much confidence of beating them if we get to the semis but it was another game where we played well, which was positive. Just need some points to match our play now.
Some team is due a right hammering from us. We can't keep having 20 odd shots on goal and not put a lot of them away.
i knew some "smart" arse would pick out the one bloody shot at cech!! ^^ see what i did there? YV, - we could be helped by the fact that if we make it to the semi's, it will be at wembley. a neutral ground is sure to make a difference and won't be anywhere near as hostile as an away match. HIAG, agreed, it's getting ridiculous now isn't it?! there's been several occasions this season where we could have stayed out there for another 3 hours and still not scored. highly frustrating.
...no-one has mentioned Ade's two rebounds he decided to head over from 5/6 yds yet, with his round the keeperf/up, and it was imo, he could have had a hat-trick another day.
Possibly. Every competitive game we've played at Wembley has gone to extra time and at that point it's anyone's game. I just hope that if we get there the pitch is better now.
not so much the result more the fact that we were prepared to go toe to toe against a team we may normally give in to at their ground....as HIAG said someone is due a hammering and we felt that hammering came to Newcastle and the game after we mustered a 0-0 against a championship side.
I like Bolton's chances in this game, because of how much emotion they're likely to feel. I could definitely see them winning the cup. My guess is, though, that losing might be just what the Spurs need for the run in. I agree they're looking hungry but tired, and no more mid week games could really help.
