Ferrie Bodde has insisted that he has not suffered a serious setback after undergoing further knee surgery. The 29-year-old has not played a first-team game for Swansea City since February 2010. Some reports claimed that further surgery which Bodde requested himself was a setback for the Dutchman and that he was left fearing for his career. But he has issued a statement through his agents Fair Deal - to insist that the procedure he has just undergone was only a minor problem and he was looking forward to soon being available for Premier League action. "I don't know where these reports have come from, but they aren't correct," said Bodde. "I am working hard with my rehabilitation and am trying to do everything to play this season for Swansea City in the Premier League. "It's going very good with my knee and I am feeling strong at the moment. "We have worked with a team of medical specialist from England and The Netherlands on a rehabilitation program which we will undergo closely. "In the pre-season I underwent exercises along with the group successfully, so now and then I had the feeling I sank down my knee without feeling any pain but I didn't trust it. "After extensive consultation with medical specialists I decided to do a minor surgery on my meniscus. My regular orthopaedic surgeon doctor did it for me. He knows the knee the best as he performed previous operations. There is a small piece of meniscus removed. Now I'm back home and feel fine." BODDE'S Return Bodde insists he is looking forward to returning to action shortly. "I and not only me but the full team of medical specialists are positive about the future," he said. "You have to see this surgery as part of my revalidation process. "I am constantly in touch with manager Brendan Rodgers and chairman Huw Jenkens. They fully support me and are always ready to help me. "I will do everything to make my debut for Swansea City in the Premier League. I can't wait for that moment and it's fantastic to see we are doing so well. "I want to thank Rodgers, Jenkins, the Swansea fans and all people who support me in this difficult period by showing my qualities on the pitch as soon as possible and that will happen, believe me!" - By Gerrit van Leeuwen I think all Jacks (including Dai) will want to wish Ferrie all the very best in his final push to recovery, we all know how much this boy wants to play in the Prem, and let's all support him in this endeavour, goodness knows we need him now, so let's all get behind Bodde, as he completes his long awaited recovery!
What a welcome back he will get at the Liberty should he finally make it. A standing ovation I would think. Send him out onto the pitch first. I, and I know we all wish him a speedy recovery and can't wait to see him back. Thanks for that Dragonphill.
Nice idea NJS. It'd be a bit of a tearjerker to be honest, but after so long out... if he makes it back he'll deserve the ovation.
Great post, DP. Good news too. I've always said let's wait and see what the medics say and it's looking a bit more positive. Have to say even I was beginning to doubt whether he'd ever be back.
It is good news , just hope he comes back to prove the doubters wrong, and gets 10 goals by the end of the season
Well done bigkidderz for spotting this in the first place. DP - you naughty boy, getting all the accolades.
I gave bigkidderz due recognition, for spotting this article I'll have you know, but a good interview by Gerrit van Leeuwen for Sky, is that a dutch name by the way? anyway Dai can shut it, the tart!..................... please log in to view this image
Haha I don't mind guys - after all, I only spotted it on scfc2 anyway! Just posted it over on the other thread for you guys to read and use as you please in case some people don't read the scfc2 guestbook! It's good to read direct quotes from Ferrie, and everyone involved seem very confident that he'll be back in the 1st team squad at some point this season - exciting times!
I Think everyone single swansea Jack would love to see him back in action , i would gladly eat humble pie if he plays first team football again. I wish him well
Now when have we heard statements like this before...........i wonder if it was the first comeback or was it the second comeback by bodde....... not a chance in hell of being fit enough for the hardest league in the world......
Tell me Dai, why are you laughing at the situation with Bodde? He is our player and is trying to come back to us, try to show some respect to a player injured playing for our club!
He will be back this season FACT!! Also when he does make his return a cheeky wager will be going on him getting a goal on his first start back!!!
this new player we signed till January says himself that he needs time to get match fit and he has only been out of the game for a few months and you think bodde will get match fit after 4 years....yer right and my uncle is my aunt. anyone who knows about injuries and football will know he will never be good enough against fitter much younger players......he will break down trying to get fit that will take him forever to do anyway....sorry just accept it wont happen, we don't need an injury prone player,
we all wish him well. i have stated that many times already but I'm a realist and he will be 4 years older and not as agile as he was. I really cant see him coming back as a player that will be able to mix it with his team mates let alone the superstars of the premiership. as far as i see it i think he has missed the boat now and will either retire or play at a lower level assuming that he can stay fit that is. lets be honest here his record of playing over the last 5 years has been very poor and i cant see that changing with his injury for however long he tries to get fit. its a shame but it has happened to better players than him in history...good luck to him but he is wasting his time and the clubs money......
In this dai your opinion does not mean anything, as no matter what you say bodde is our player, the club and Brendan has confidence of him coming back, and he is under contract with us. Your theories which are not backed by any facts is just idle speculation, if he comes back and fails then his career is over, but you can't possibly know that until he tries! I for one back our club, manager and player fully, if you can't do that simple thing I question your judgement.
Really ? so tell me the facts of bodde's condition and our club's position around it, I am most intrigued
his condition is like it was 5 years ago, very poor tolerance to knocks and rough tackles ......hence a little over 50 games in 5 years.....NEXT QUESTION...
