...... will die soon, it's inevitable.

When he does there'll be a lot of people who realise what they've lost without ever realising what they had.

Never liked him. Found his `whining` vocals irritating.

Wrote some bloody good songs but seemed to me everybody sang them better than he did.

    imo only of course.

Pops, I picked this out for you especially, no kidding mate.

If this isn't how you currently feel I'll be amazed ........ the point in a man's life when he realises he's closer to death than birth.

There's a Dylan song for every human condition, he's an incredible man.

An absolute genius, who influenced all sorts of "modern" music.

As well as my family and the lads, Dylan has been a massive part of my life since I was introduced to him by my music teacher in 1966.

I can also understand why he is not to every ones taste though.

    That`s something special mate.

`It aint dark but it`s getting there`. Having a bit weep and not the least bit ashamed.

Appreciate that Smug. It really gets through doesn`t it?

Must be the greatest singer/songwriter of the last 50 years. Also, along with Leonard Cohen, one of the few people you can sing along to sober and not come off second best!

My pleasure mate ..... I thought that would hit a nerve with you.

As we age we begin to realise that passing isn't such a bad thing for us ........ it's the pain of loss we'll leave behind that really hurts.

I try to keep fit so my kids & grandkids can have the most out of me before I go.

Just getting on mate, Pops just had an MOT and passed without any advisories <ok>

I'm off to Wharfdale for an 11 mile walk on Tuesday with one of my sons.

It's just that you can appreciate your mortality, at some point, and I think we've reached it ......... but I appreciate your concern, truthfully <ok>

Absolutely mate. The age/time left thing hits home every now and again that`s all.

I can remember seeing on a calendar (one of them tear off ones with a motto for each day). It said `never worry about growing old for it is a privilege denied to many` I was in my 20`s at the the time but I`ve never forgotten it.

    Appreciate your concern. <ok>

That's good to hear, off to Ambleside on Monday for a bit of walking, I shall reflect on my Mortality and whinge to my wife about my knees at every opportunity.

Cheers Pops, is comforting to hear that others have similar concerns as me.

When I walk past the shops in the Metro Centre, I look at my reflection in the window and think, "Who is that fat old **** with my missus"

Great songwriter but I'd have preferred those songs if he'd let someone else sing them.

You are right, we should count our blessings, it's good to get out walking in the hills, it does you the world of good and if I keep saying it I might just believe it. <laugh>

Then they mean nothing and become pop songs.

Dylan is a poet not a lounge singer, his songs haver been covered by some of the greatest acts alive but they are nothing like the originals. However I do recognise he's not every ones taste and some people don't get him.

Precisely, when Adele sings 'Make you feel my Love' everyone swoons and thinks she's a genius.

But the gritty harsh depth is chucked away for a 'lovely melodious sound' ........ might as well listen to Michael Bubble tbh.

    Disagree but such is life.

Something in the air by Thunderclap Newman means a little... Written by Townsend.

All the young dudes by Mott the Hoople means a little... Written by Bowie.

Sinatra and Elvis wrote nowt, a lot of their songs mean a **** load.

Can't sing, don't try. I prefer the covers of a few by a distance. He could have played guitar and his harmonica while writing songs in a band instead of warbling on his own. The Hurricane is one of my favourite songs of all time, I get Dylan, I just acknowledge his singing is like a cat having it's claws pulled out.
