I’ve just seen he’s retired & is now West Brom goalkeeping coach. Can’t find anything on the internet except for a brief mention in a newspaper clip on Sky Sports.
i found and watched the highlights of the 2008 wembley game last night. bo didn't play much after he left us. 257 games for us and then 131 starts and a sub appearance in 9 years since. and maybe a wales appearance or two. what a total waste. i don't suppose i blame him. his wage packet will be useful hereonafter. but what an abject waste of a really good goalie.
With Bo, I get the impression that he feels there's much more to life than football. He's a huge family man and I would imagine that staying around the West Midlands so as not to uproot his kids would have been a big factor in his decision to stay with West Brom (this was also his reasoning for quitting the international scene). He'll end his career with 19 international caps and more than 100 Premier League appearances. Not bad for a lad who was on the brink of joining Stockport before Colin Murphy persuaded Peter Taylor to hijack the deal.
Controversial I know, because Boaz is a Hull City Legend, but I actually thought Matt Duke was the better keeper. Boaz was the better shot stopper, but Duke commanded his area better (from crosses and such) and to me that's the more difficult part of goalkeeping. Tin hat on
Shocking quality vid, made up for with a top quality save. Title of the vid might be an exaggeration, but whatever.
I don’t agree with you, but there’s nothing wrong with your opinion. Duke played well for a period of time, but was a little weak overall for me.
Genuinely believe Bo was one of the top shot stoppers in the world in his pomp. Trouble is the rest of his skill set was lower league. Not a bad thing though, and it’s probably why he played for us and not any higher. Absolute legend in my eyes
Leaping salmon like into the air to take that cross from the Bristol player at the last knockings, then Turner patting him on the head.. One of my most abiding memories of following HCAFC down the years. Or how about that save at Watford in the first leg? ....If that was Allison, Lineker would **** himself to death.. PS...Just seen it above....Sen-****ing-sational
I always felt that Matt Duke would be great for three or four games after coming in for Boaz, but then would regress a bit. When he became first choice in the 2010/11 season, I don't think he looked to be in Boaz's class. We've had a lot of fantastic keepers over the years. Of all that I've seen, I'd probably class Boaz as behind only Tony Norman. That said, we only got relatively brief glimpses of Roy Carroll and Andy Oakes, who were excellent for us.
Not that abiding a memory - it was Wayne Brown that jumped on Boaz and patted his head, not Michael Turner!
