Thought I'd put this up given the amount of non-productive posts being produced (on both sides) on this board. Temporary Banning Orders: As you are aware I am against censorship and banning but as this is a democracy I am quite happy to accept this may be the only route open to us. A number of you have mentioned a temporary ban so I guess it needs to be implemented. So do we apply the 3 strikes and your out for a temp ban or will one warning be enough? Would the 3 strikes apply to one post on one thread or postings on multiple threads? Should a permanent ban be considered? How many temp bans before a permanent ban is applied (if perm bans are adopted)? Mentioning Other Threads: I have a suggestion, if you are going to quote other threads in your post can you add a link to the aforementioned thread to your post. The reason I ask is I believe it will reduce the amount of pointless posts disputing who said what (wish I had thought of this earlier). So may well reduce the amount of rubbish in the longer term. Merging/Closing Threads: There is no standard set for the amount of requests needed to either merge or close a thread. This is usually done at the discretion of us mods but there are 3 of us and we do not all think alike and have our own views. I think you can agree we adopt a pretty hands off approach and as a rule it generally works. I would suggest the 3 strike rule, if 3 guys ask for a thread to be merged/closed then those requests can be acted upon accordingly. Your thoughts please guys, Jacks need not apply.
Taff! Have to say I'm against going down the swanc road of banning. If someone persistently spams our board with repetitive one liner ****, just delete it. You mods seem to have managed our board well for the past few seasons, is it coincidental that as soon as we become Welsh Giants our board is spammed by one clubs fans? If it aint broke don't try to fix it I say. I come on here for a laugh so keep the banter but delete the ****.
Taff, I hope we don't resort to banning posters, Yes some are Boring some are tedious and some are so lonely that they need to put one liners on every post so that someone talks to them. We do pretty well with rebuffing posts from the usual suspects but their opinion is mostly based on team bias which is understandable.
Taff I have always been against bans but after this week's western deluge I think this needs serious consideration. While we have one or two (no names or pack drills) who occasionally go to the Swans board, they swiftly get ejected if their views are considered too much for the sensitive souls down there to take. I think we are a lot more tolerant than that and until now we have been prepared to repel any incoming nonsense. However in the last week they have persisted in ignoring any sensible responses from us and pressed on with the same old arguments regardless. As a result I think we should adopt a more rigorous approach along the lines you outline. In saying this I will go along with the majority verdict as, if nothing else, we are a democratic board. Also, I would prefer first past the post rather than proportional representation.
Always been against banning. As a general rule, the disruption generally subsides after a while and there is nothing wrong with a bit of cross-board banter. The "problem" only becomes a problem when decent footballing threads are derailed by the constant intervention of a mindless few. One off posts on a thread can be forgiven and ignored. In fact, if they are, they'll generally go away. However, persistent disruptive posters who have got nothing to say except the usual crap should be dealt with. Just how is up for debate, but they'd wear their banning from this forum as a badge of pride over there they're that twisted. They'd be sniggering amongst thenselves like a bunch schoolgirls..... The issue of a warning would seem fair, but it would probably be flagged up publicly across there as something to be added to their forum street cred CV. I't's too much to ask our mods to remove individual posts - it's not worth the effort. Maybe a ban or two on some known crap-posters will deter the rest joining in the wum fest, but it's not the way I'd personally prefer to go.
Is this the type of childish thing your on about Taff , a jack throwing insults again on the CCFC board ......what you gonna do? Think he/she was banned once but let back on the capitals board ........................
im up for the 3warnings and your out for a temp ban im also up for not doing nothing about it and leaving them ruin this forum for the up coming season
go 12 warnings aber, btw youtube a band called british india and tell me what u think got my tickets for another peg band or whatever JH calls them, the commitments in september
I'd say its the repetitive off topic stuff that drags threads down. 3 warnings then a ban seems very fair. Need to be careful that the idiots who are doing it don't end up wearing their bans like a badge of honour though. I'd add that we need to start playing some football to see how things will actually settle down. They might get worse but I know that boredom with the lack of football talking points is definitely draging me into conversations I normally wouldn't.
I'll throw my thoughts in Hate the idea of banning, but hate all out threads being derailed too. Perhaps some sort of mechanism whereby posters can apply for a ban if they feel its appropriate then is three mods do a vote between us - majority rules? I think much wumming happens on threads where really, given the title and even some comments from our own, its no surprise it all kicks off - we could/would take that into account.
Posts 5, 9 and 10 are perfect examples that should be deleted from this thread. Actually fellas the more I think about it you are probably right. If you delete the dribble as they write, there is no longer the evidence by the offender. Do as you feel necessary lads.
Musty, this thread is for our board members not you or any other poster. However, given you have taken the time to read some of the post, obviously not all of it, you will appreciate me stating your input is redundant. You are fully aware of the ban process employed by the Super mod and if you had read my post in full will realise any sort of process would be all inclusive. A decision on the way forward is yet to be made but I am sure everyone will be aware of the decision at the appropriate time.
I don't post on here as much as I would because of all the rubbish posted on decent threads, it's a definite put off for me. Obvious disruptive postings should be dealt with. The problem is they are like children and don't know when enough is enough. Something needs to be done before this board is just a scene of carnage threads, with little or no football being discussed in any depth due to the spoilers.
We have lost many good posters over the last year, the wums from down west have wore them out, I think we could all list at least 10 Cardiff posters that we don't see now. To wait any longer could be the death knell, start banning and if they wear it as a badge so what it will be on their board not ours.
