another of the bigger teams visit adams park on saturday and unfortunately the only outcome i can see to this one is an away win.we didnt turn up in the first half against charlton and cant afford to do that again.with other teams around us picking up points we need to get out of this rut sooner than later.maybe rowlands and donners will be back to bolster the midfield as both were missed on tuesday night .grant deserves to be dropped after his poor performance midweek.i would love to see betsy back on the right wing for his experience but i dont think waddock will pick him.beever once again will be up front on his own and deserves his place with the performances he has put in this season.i like mccoy but i felt foster played well midweek and deserves to start again.i predict blues 1 sheff weds 3 but i hope i am proved wrong.COME ON YOU BLUES

I have a sneaky feeling we might get something from this game and I feel we need it and as we can't afford to let a gap build up.

    Team (if fit)

    Bull
    Foster
    Big Dave
    Leon
    Basey
    Rowlands
    Lewis
    Donnelly
    Ainsworth
    Harris
    Beever

But I would like to see McCoy and Betsy in but don't think that will happen.

    I expect a crowd of 6000 plus.

    Lets face it....
Unless Donnelly is playing we are clueless in midfield. Bloomfield is a tryer, but so lacks the vision and creativity that Donnelly offers.
Too much of Tuesday nights game was spent hoofing it up field as we had no other ideas of how to get it forward.
We need to keep the ball on the floor, use the pace on the wings and get going early doors

i would like to see rowlands and donnally return, with ainsworth or betsy returning on the right wing. i didnt think strevs played that well, so i'd like to see us possibly revert to a 4-5-1 which saw us win against sheff U

I can't get into these formations too much. At the end of the day:
    • players should always make themselves available in order to retain possession
    • they should defend in numbers
    • they shouldn't give the opposing team any time on the ball, forcing them to make mistakes
    • when a break is on there should be enough players quick enough and determined enough to support the player on the break and make his efforts worthwhile (I find it so irritating when one, or two, players break only to find they have no-one to pass the ball to and end up being faced with a wall and having to go back again).
    • the players must understand each other and support each other so when one or more go forward they are covered

To me formations are too rigid and make it easier for opposing managers to counteract.

Definitely need a good strategy for each match but a good organiser /driver on the pitch is vital.

I reckon that against the top teams we need to win the midfield battle, meaning a 4-5-1. If Donnelly and Rowland recover, I would put them straight into the team alongside Lewis, to make sure Wednesday don't run the game. If Rowlands can't make it, I'd revert to 4-4-2 with Strevens in, as Bloomfield looked too lightweight on Tuesday.

    Personally, my team would be:
    Bull
    Mccoy, Winfield, Johnson, Basey
    Rowlands, Lewis, Donnelly
    Ainsworth, Beavon, Harris

Subs: Foster, Ibe, Betsy, Grant, Strevens

reading on the bucks free website it seems like rowlands is out so i think ainsworth will play.the betsy situation is baffling, waddock said he hasnt had a bust up with him and at the moment he is not in his plans for the first team and may let him go out on loan <doh>

What's everyone's views on Rowlands? I only saw him once at Hartlepools and he did okay, didn't see a huge amount of him but quite often you want that in a defensive midfielder. Do you think he's match fit or has he got a while to go?

unsure about his fitness but he looks a class act who could be cruciel to the team...we need to try and get himj on loan for the rest of the season in my opinion

Agree with Jose. He's got a bit of work to do in terms of match fitness, but when he's up to speed I think he could be a big player for us. His experience and quality will be needed so hopefully we can keep him longer. I don't see QPR needing him.

The team that theblues and Cardiff-Wanderer have said is my preferred line up if Rowlands is fit. If not then i'd rather see what Bignall has to offer in a 4-4-2 over Strevens. Strevs didn't offer much on Tuesday.

FFs. Tuned in after Ibe apparently scored a great equaliser. Thought I would settle down for one of those better games and what happens? A quick break and it's in the net. 1-2. Maybe I'm some sort of curse so I've switched off and hope for the best.

PS At half time we are rock bottom, 5 points adrift of Orient. What a turn round they have had in 16th now..

Back again. But it sounds a bit depressing as it seems Sheff W all of a sudden are going close out of nothing. Sounds like it's only a matter of time before Wed go 3-1 up.

Oh my God. Hit the bar. We are lucky to be only 2-1 down. Do something.

Just gets worse. Will we ever win another game? Why do I have to be a Wycombe fan through and through. Not sure I can handle another 5 months of this.

20 mins to play with 10 men and only one substitution. Was that a good decision or should more fresh legs have been brought on?

What happened about the new loan signing? He wasn't even on the bench. (Just spotted, he went back to Reading for treatment on knee injury sustained against Charlton).

just got back dissapointed with the result but the players put in a decent performance and ibe scored a wonder goal shame the ref booked him when he ran to the sidelines to celebrate with his family.waddock has to take some blame for this defeat he should have taken off ainsworth earlier and brought on grant before ainsworth got sent off..no sour grapes but the ref was diabolical today.harris had a very good game again but the baffling decision to leave leon on the bench leaves me thinking waddock has lost the plot unless he was suffering with an injury but then why would he be on the bench.

Commiserations guys and well done to young E-Bay - what a memory that will be for him and what a dismal piece of refereeing to book him for celebrating with his family.

Now, the trick's going to be hanging on to him...

Decent performance like you say Rocky, but just not good enough when in good goal scoring positions again. Same old story.

So pleased for Ibe, a brilliant goal and a lovely moment when he celebrated with his family. I hope the ref is embarrassed at booking him. Harris clearly didn't want to be upstaged and put in a brilliant performance. We should make the most of these two while we have them.

Rowlands looked good again. Calm and composed, good passing, just a little short of fitness still.

I think Johnson didn't play as Wednesday had slow but physical strikers, which is more suited to Winfield and Tunnicliffe. Their number 9, O'Grady, caused us all sorts of problems and we always knew Lowe would score at some point. Looked offside from where I was though.

I think Waddock will be kicking himself for not subbing Ainsworth before the sending off. He played well but his legs had gone by then. Not sure why Waddock followed him down the tunnel for a couple of minutes, seemed odd.

An entertaining afternoon, but ultimately frustrating again.

It was unusual for Ainsworth to stay on past the hour so the fact he stayed on for another 12 mins with a yellow card is surprising. Maybe he was inspiring and, with the new loan player back at Reading, we didn't have anyone better to put on today; from what I can make out Grant isn't one to inspire, even though he can be brilliant in short (very short) spells. We still seem very exposed to counters. Not convinced Ibe is a 90min player at present. Gives the opposition too much time to sus him out. Would be good to get some feedback on both youngsters over the 90mins.
