Blow for QPR and West Ham as striker states desire to stay at Valencia

    By talkSPORT | Monday, August 6, 2012
QPR and West Ham target Paco Alcacer has revealed he does not want to leave Valencia.

The young striker has been scoring goals in pre-season but he is unlikely to be given a chance to play in the La Liga side's first team due to his age.

The 18-year-old has enjoyed a cushy life at the Mestalla, but he wants to start playing top-flight football. And given that he is not keen on dropping down a tier in Spain, a move to the Premier League could suit him.

He told Marca: "When you're out you realize what you have in Valencia. Out you have to care for the boots and kit. In Valencia you have it all done and you do only work to perform in the field."

Yeah, he's obviously passed the stage of preparing his own boots. Maybe they wipe his bum, too. They don't do that at qpr.

I'm devasted that we missed out on a guy that we had previously expressed no interest in and I've never heard of.

Although I don't think he'd have come to us anyway - sounds like he wouldn't have been arsed to sit in a departure lounge for 2 hours.

He could've saved a bit of hassle by getting a priority boarding pass but then you got to actually summon up the strength to order one!

Our only hope of signing him was if he couldn't be bothered not to sign for us.

Considered a hot prospect in Spain and defo one for the future...but statements like "When you're out you realize what you have in Valencia. Out you have to care for the boots and kit" do make me think that he needs a massive kick up the rear end and should be sent to a low league club on loan to do some grafting. I guess this sort of behaviour is becoming more common in footballers these days...

Doubt this guy was ever a target for us anyway.

As MH said he spent the 1st few days after last season travelling Europe to scout players, and has only bought English based so far, he must've spotted a few youngsters. But he's not going to Blab bout them, giving other managers a heads up is he??!! And why a people on here so quick to judge and jump all over a player from a snippet of an interview? The reporter may have asked him what the difference is between the clubs he's been loaned out to compared to how he's treated at his parent club...... FFS!

I am devastated and I wish to extend my sympathy to all QPR and West Ham fans globally

But looking at the facts its easy to see why:

Valencia (Spanish: [baˈlenθja]) or València (Valencian: [vaˈlensia]) is the capital of the autonomous community of Valencia and the third largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona, with around 809,000 inhabitants in the administrative centre. Valencia is also Spain's third largest metropolitan area, with a population ranging from 1.7 to 2.3 million. City has a status of global city.[1] The Port of Valencia is the 5th busiest container port in Europe and the largest on the Mediterranean Sea, with a trade volume of 4.21 million TEU's.[2]
Valencia was founded as a Roman colony in 138 BC. The city is situated on the banks of the Turia, on the east coast of the Iberian Peninsula, fronting the Gulf of Valencia on the Mediterranean Sea. Its historic centre is one of the largest in Spain, with approximately 169 acres;[3] this heritage of ancient monuments, views and cultural attractions makes Valencia one of the country's most popular tourist destinations. Major monuments include Valencia Cathedral, the Torres de Serranos, the Torres de Quart, the Llotja de la Seda (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996), and the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences), an entertainment-based cultural and architectural complex designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela.[4] The Museu de Belles Arts de València houses a large collection of paintings from the 14th to the 18th centuries, including works by Velázquez, El Greco, and Goya, as well as an important series of engravings by Piranesi.[5] The Institut Valencià d'Art Modern (Valencian Institute of Modern Art) houses both permanent collections and temporary exhibitions of contemporary art and photography.[6]
Valencia is integrated into an industrial area on the Costa del Azahar (Orange Blossom Coast). Valencia's main festival is the Falles. The traditional Spanish dish, paella, originated in Valencia.
