As much as it pains us, is today's result really a bad thing, lets be honest did any of us long suffering QPR fans actually expect any thing other than our usual 3rd round defeat in the F.A.Cup. I for one, am in a way relieved it's over for another season as we can now use that overused cliche"LETS CONCENTRATE ON THE LEAGUE", Now before we all start calling me disloyal and demanding I'm hung, drawn & quartered and banished lets put it into perspective. Burnley don't play till Monday and the way they have rallied a draw or win is not out of the question and whatever the result we will have a days rest more than them. Everton dont play until tuesday but result is not important as i dont really expect them to feature in the relegation battle. Hull are currently losing and hopefully Arsenal can batter them by a few and maybe knock the stuffing out of them for a while. West Brom, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Stoke, Aston Villa & Sunderland are still in the cup, this has surely got to be a distraction for them especially if they can progress further leaving them with the added risk of injuries and the head turning possibility of a Wembley appearance, with the added effect of playing more games leaving them tired, where all we have now is the problem of picking up points ( i believe 38 minimum to survive ). Now as I stated in the thread title could this be our Blessing in disguise with today's horrendous result against a team on paper we should have dispatched with ease. Me personally i think it could be the difference in our fight for Premier survival.
Unless we deliberately threw the game, which is of course illegal, the only good that can come out of this is redknapp resigning and Ferdinand retiring. Anybody with any sense of our history, and our pathetic performance in the cup competitions for what seems like decades, would know that, for the morale of the fans, that kind of **** performance is unacceptable.
Add to that the fact it was the Blades first win in six matches and you have to say if it was horse-racing there'd be a Steward's Enquiry...
I'll reserve final judgement until I see how we perform at Turf Moor. However at the moment I'm erring towards it being a ****ing disaster. 'Fans' going bonkers on Twitter - slagging off TF when he's got bigger concerns with Air Asia. All the positives and confidence of the past few weeks at home being undermined. Last week people were saying a cup run would be good for confidence... this week it's a blessing that we were humiliated (and we were) after putting out a changed but nevertheless pretty decent side including Austin, Caulker, Fer, Henry who are among our most dependable first teamers. Winning games is what we should be about... Look at the teams around us and the fans recent reactions to performances - Foxes and Burnley have tails up after good league performances against big teams... Palace and WBA have new managers, both likely to provide a bump for different reasons. Ask yourself whether a team that got properly spanked at home by League 1 opposition, and have zero points away all season are likely to put the fear into our closest rivals next week? We can spin however we want but, at this moment, it isn't a positive in any way from where I'm looking.
So that explains it - Harry (inept team selection) and Rio (inept play & leadership) were unwittingly doped and we were all duped?
From one perspective, yes, it is good we are no longer in the cup, and don't have that distraction, and won't have as many games to play, so players will be more rested. From the another perspective, and the one I would go with, it is bad. Today only served to show how completely totally and utterly lacking we are in quality. A number of our 'first team' players played today, and we still lost, and deserved to be beaten. So, I'm afraid the benefit of focusing on the league doesn't cut it for me, if we have any hope of making it in the Premier League we need far more quality than we showed today.
The only way that result could be a blessing if it somehow injects a renewed life into the players and something akin to a brain transplant for our manager and coaches. They surely wouldn't have expected such a disappointment, least of all the fans who attended deserved a whole lot better. The club should fine the players wages and use the money to reimburse fans. I think they forget they are in the entertainment business, a good case for trade description breach.
It makes no difference, if we went out the cup and beat Burnley away and Man Utd at home it might be worth it. The fact is we will probably lose both.
You've perfectly summed up why Harry is nicely content with his days work. "Tony will get the message now"
Glad we lost..couldnt give a toss about the cup. Makes no diffrence and the supporters thing is garbage. people on certain boards wil always slag of HR so it makes no diffrnece. We could win the next on the bounce and he & TF would still get s**T I dont attned games for obvious reasons, so cant comment on the crowd feelings, but just reading other boards, this one doesnt appear to be the general concencus. This is the "lets find a reason to moan" board ATM Just my obsevations Cue bulls**t.........
So in that case anyone who attended that game is insignificant. They didn't have to make the effort to get to the ground and sit in traffic for an hour. No need for sustenance or to physically sit through that absolute **** and fork out three quid for a programme. **** you ... The faithful that attend every week or so.
Well i did say cue the bulls**t and here it is....WTF ??! Has your account been hacked or something? I no where said that those who went were insignificant? I was commenting on the posts that said a win would be good for supporter confidence. That does necc mean it will make any difrence to team performances. But, they chose to attend an othing game we were never going to win. I posted on many other sites that we would lose this because the Blades had f-all to lose. hy wouldnt they have a go at us. Our second string arent good enough to beat them and god only knows why HR played the players he did? As for the ***you..be carefull or I'll have to report you to the mods ...One of them is my misus you know.. You sound tired mate. get some sleep
One of the supporters who went was me....Queens....so please don't... I went because they are my team and I thought we can win...for my sins I think that every week. I went with a fever....I sat through it....surrounded by Tourist fans.....the season ticket holders seats around me had all been sold..R and Q block were near empty.. the atmosphere was flat because of this. I was the only person clapping and singing to Pigbag. And to put the @@@@ing icing on the cake...I was so out of it...I lost my return train ticket and had to pay again.
