Presumably as part of his 5th term bid. Nevertheless, might be welcome? http://m.bbc.com/sport/football/29109481
I didn't think this would happen in my lifetime. I also didn't think that a complete idiot like Blatter could make such a common sense decision. TV referral would bring football into the 21st century and into line with so many other major sports. Whilst there will be difficulties to overcome, it wouldn't take a genius to come up with a workable system that doesn't spoil the spectacle or materially damage the flow of the game. At the moment, post game analysis, e.g. on MOTD, so often focuses on the refereeing decisions and this in itself tells you something is badly wrong, Well overdue imo.
Yes, progressive. Not the usual Blatter complacency and antediluvian attitude - he must really feel his job is at risk.
I think this would be another nail in the coffin of football. It's good to let the refereeing be done by the officials on the pitch if they are well trained and disciplined. The solution is not in this kind of technology. Why do I feel this way? Because money excess is one of the big problems in football and this kind of technology is only proposed because singular decisions by referees can be worth millions. Too much money is heaped onto football and makes these things matter too much financially. Pressure is heaped on the sport and it's being ruined in various ways. No thanks.
I bet it doesn't happen. Probably just Blatter talking to try and get himself re-elected. Not that he won't get elected anyway! Is there actually anyone standing against him? Seriously wish that man would leave football. FIFA as a organisation are a joke.
Why not just allow the ref to look at video evidence/ refer to 4th official if he has doubts? The American football example is naff, its a completely different sort of game, plus they each team has armies of staff looking from every angle, they rarely get a challenge wrong.
