I read on the head to head stats that we`re unbeaten in our last five trips to Bramall Lane! But I cant see us getting anything up there this time.If we play like we did against Brackley, then we will get slaughtered.I would take a 0-0 draw right now.

Not satisfied with alienating season ticket holders GFC is now also turning its attention to those who watch the club away.

Under normal circumstances I'm quite happy to turn up at whatever ground we're playing and pay on the gate (or in the case of Port Vale go to a ticket office to buy a ticket and then present it at a turnstile about 50 yards away....). Obviously some games are ticket only (Burton last season, Wolves this), but on those occasions the ticketing situation was obvious.

No so with Sheffield. NOWHERE was there (at least up to last Friday) any indication that this game was all ticket. I mean, the ground has a capacity of about 32,000, with a 'standard' away capacity of about 3,000. Yeah, like we're going to fill that in our present situation. However, all ticket it is, with no tickets available to away fans at the ground on the day, and now the club aren't posting out any more as it's too close to match day. Of course you can always go to Priestfield to buy and pick up a ticket there. How convenient for those supporters who actually live significantly closer to Sheffield than Gillingham.

Fortunately I checked and ordered and have received my tickets, but apparently there's been a lot of Twitterising today from people who haven't ordered their tickets yet. For those without Twitter I shall leave it to your assorted imaginations to assess the level of satisfaction this situation is generating.

I had seen some of the tweets coming through from followers re this game. However, I'm not sure who is to blame for the complaints it has generated, SUFC or GFC either way its another obstacle in the way of football supporters and once again is not acceptable.

I think Gillingham will line up like this on Saturday

    --------------------------Nelson----------------------------------
    Hewitt----------Legge----------------Barrett----------------Martin
    ----------------Hollands-------------Mousinho--------------------
    ***an--------------------Dack-----------------------------Whelpdale
    -------------------------Kedwell-----------------------------------

Subs: Howard (GK), Davies, Gregory, Weston, McDonald, Akinfenwa, German

With Charlie Lee suspended on Saturday and Michael Harriman on International Duty and with The Brackley Town Game on Monday Night then I can see Peter Taylor making full use of his squad across both fixtures, for starters Danny Hollands, Craig ***an and Elliott Hewitt all cannot play on Monday Night so it makes sense if the three of them play against Sheffield United and we can save additional legs for The Brackley Town Game.

I hope Bradley Dack starts after his late equalizer on Saturday and I hope Dack starts in his best position which is playing just behind Danny Kedwell as a attacking midfielder, here is what bothers me: Bradley Dack scores 27 goals for The Youth Team as a central attacking midfielder and when Bradley Dack plays for the first team where do we play him ( on the left wing where Dack has not played before), sure The Development Squad and Youth Team need to integrate with the first team, here is where I have been playing ( enter players name here) and he is really good as a attacking midfielder and that is where he should be playing, some players change positions and improve after being moved into a new position, but I still think that some of our best young players would of done better if they were played in their best position.

I also think we will go back to five in midfield which seems to be Peter Taylor's preferred formation and with Gillingham away to Sheffield United I would revert back to a five man midfield, we look more confidant with five in midfield and more nervous last week when we had four in midfield and having a second holding midfielder in-front of the back four will hopefully provide the defence with more cover, providing that they don't drop back into defence.

I gladly take a point on Saturday and I am looking forward to my first ever trip to Bramall Lane.

I have now double checked. GFC ticket office was phoned last Wednesday and advised ON THAT DAY that the game was all ticket.

I don't know when they actually put the info on the OS that the game was all ticket, but it certainly wasn't before Saturday, so to put up a notice after that saying that "We have now been advised by Sheffield United that the game will be All-Ticket" is disingenuous and smacks of someone trying to cover their tracks.

Would love to see Dack in that position and he admits himself it where he would play if given the choice.

    Sheff U 1-2 Gills FT

A great win. We have now won more matches than we've lost away to Sheffield Utd!
Hope the injuries to Kedwell and Gregory aren't too serious.

I;ve copied a bit of the report from a sheffield rag. Bi of a back handed compliment
illingham – They scored a fortunate first goal and maybe the second had a touch of luck and barely had many other chances all game. They were poor and quite cynical with time wasting, feigning injury (keeper at end was a disgrace but ref let him get away with it and fell for it hook, line and sinker) but you know what good luck to them. They came to one of biggest clubs in the league with a hugely superior wage bill and resources and out worked and out fought us all game. They showed superior desire, passion and will to win and for that they deserved something. A win was very fortunate on the balance of the game but then if it was just about effort then they did deserve to win in many ways. The centre backs headed the ball away all game.

The midfield were first for the ball and often the second ball and they showed an incredible desire to work hard and not give up any balls. The two goals exemplified this approach. I have to say they are a poor side and will be near the bottom but a great win for them today and for sheer effort along had to be commended. Many will say they were using spoiling tactics and were using every trick in the book but so what? If we cannot make the keeper make a save let alone score then we are very desperate if that is all we can complain about. They are a team that if we had matched or got close to their effort we probably had a few players who could unlock them and win the game but all game we never upped it and just seemed slower in mind and body all game.

Very important 3 points. Also worth noting that the form tables for the last 8 games have us in 6th place. 15 points from the last 8 games chaps.

What a fantastic result! I thought we would do well to get anything up there. They`re in the bottom 4,but they still have good players and a passionate fan base behind them. From Gillsplayer we seemed to start the better side, and took an early lead when Kedwell chased down a defensive mistake, unfortunatly he got injured and is highly likely to miss the Brackley game on Monday. With Gregory going off just before Kedwell it was a blow to have to make two early subs. The goal did seem to wake Sheffield Utd up as they got on top and an equaliser did sound like it had been coming.Just before half-time we did seem to get back in the game.Early in the second half Cody put us 1-2 up with a brave header. It was good that we continued the second half how we finished the first. The Commentary kept praising the defence, and Ian Dowie on Soccer Saturday singled out Legge as outstanding, and the Sheffield Utd fans were raving about Barrett. It was good that the defence had that solid feel that has been missing since last season finished.

The three signings ***an,Mousinho, and Hewitt seem to have given us that extra bit of quality that was needed. It was a relief when the whistle blew and we could celebrate a fantastic win.Well done to the Players, and Taylor for this great win. It`s early days of course, but that win could give us some confidence. That win at Sheffield Utd must be our best away win in terms of beating a big Club on their patch since our Championship days.Brackley up next, changes will indeed happen, but we need to take that performance into that game.

Sensational day, sensational match, sensational performance, Three important points in the bag and matches like yesterday remind you how enjoyable it can be supporting Gillingham because those scenes at the full time whistle are the sort of scenes we were seeing on a regular basis last season, but they are also very memorable scenes and supporters remember results like yesterday for years to come.

Before Kick Off I was saying to Rob that ideally we want to frustrate Sheffield United by keeping the scores level for the opening twenty / twenty five minutes of the match and in the early stages of the match Gillingham were doing that successfully, but we went one better then that in the seventh minute as Chris Whelpdale had possession of the ball and he played the ball back to Joe Martin who lofted the ball over the top and the ball looked to be running through safely to George Long, but Harry Maguire's back pass was very short and Danny Kedwell challenged the out-rushing George Long for the loose ball and Danny Kedwell had opened the scoring for Gillingham through a lucky ricochet, but Danny Kedwell deserved that goal simply through pure persistence and not giving up on chasing a lost cause

The celebrations were delayed because we thought that Danny Kedwell had fouled George Long but when the goal was given by the referee then the celebrations erupted in the away end, Little Charlie who was sitting in-front of me and Rob got crushed by one bloke who clearly had several drinks to many and he was with a group of five others and they were standing in-front of people who were sitting and obscuring many people's view of the match, they defiantly had drunk more alcohol then they could handle because they were struggling to stand and I don't understand why you drink that much alcohol before the match because twenty minutes into the game one of them fell a sleep.

I don't know what it is about Gillingham's more glamours away matches, but stewards or other idiots (referring to Wolves Away Here) seem to mess things up, at Molinuex it was all ticket and I was sat next to two groups of supporters who were looking for any excuse for a fight, and at Bramall Lane yesterday only two blocks were open for Gillingham Supporters and the stewards opened up a third block five minutes before kick off, had that block been open before The Gillingham Supporters were allowed inside the ground then we would not have experienced many of the problems we had inside Bramall Lane yesterday - also there were many complaints about the appalling quality of food available to supporters inside the stadium and thankfully I only brought a bottle of Pepsi.

Thirteen minutes into the match and Steven Gregory had to be subbed off for Bradley Dack and Bradley Dack would play in the advanced attacking midfield position with John Mousinho and Danny Hollands playing in-front of the back four, at the time I thought Steven Gregory was going to go off for some treatment but the injury was bad enough for Peter Taylor to make a substitution immediately and that was a really devastating blow because Steven Gregory was playing really well for Gillingham as Steven Gregory played a fantastic ball down the channel for Chris Whelpdale to run onto.

Tony McMahon swung in a high cross into our penalty area and Ryan Flynn flicked the ball on to Chris Porter who held the ball up underneath the challenge from Leon Legge and Ryan Flynn took control of the ball again before allowing Simon Lappin to hit a driven effort from distance which took a deflection off John Mousinho and Stuart Nelson might have got the faintest of touches on the ball but Sheffield United had won themselves a corner kick, Simon Lappin went over to take the resulting corner kick and Simon Lappin whipped in a fantastic cross which Neil Collins headered goal-wards only for Elliott Hewitt to make a fantastic goal-line clearance, that is why you have someone on the far post, Chris Porter headers the ball back into the danger zone and the ball is flicked on and Leon Legge headers the ball out of play for another corner kick.

Gillingham defended a succession of corner kicks after that as Leon Legge, Adam Barrett and John Mousinho all made crucial blocks or headered the ball out of play and eventually Sheffield United did find their range as Simon Lappin whipped in a sensational in-swinging corner kick and Chris Porter was able to header in the equaliser for Sheffield United despite the number of Gillingham Players we had inside our own penalty area and things got bad to worse for Gillingham as Danny Kedwell must of injured himself scoring the opening goal and he too had to be substituted with Cody McDonald coming on in his place, Gillingham had used two subs inside the opening twenty minutes and we had just conceded the equalizer, now we just needed to steady the ship and if we can, take this result into half time and make sure that Sheffield United don't take the lead.

Sheffield United had their chances to take the lead so soon after equalizing as Tony McMahon's clipped ball down the side was dealt with by Joe Martin and Joe Martin played the ball inside to Danny Hollands who lost possession of the ball under Michael Doyle who let the ball run into Shaun Miller's path and Shaun Miller ran towards goal with Adam Barrett backpedaling and Shaun Miller curled the ball past Stuart Nelson and the ball just about went past the far post as well, Shaun Miller could of played the ball into Chris Porters path but he decided to get a shot off on goal, Shaun Miller also saw another shot off on goal deflected out of play for a corner kick off Adam Barrett but it was his curling effort on goal that concerned every Gillingham Supporter behind the goal because we though Sheffield United had taken the lead.

One thing that me and Rob found amusing and ridiculous at the same-time was in this passage of play, Leon Legge had played a fifty yard diagonal cross-field pass to Chris Whelpdale on the left wing and Chris Whelpdale flicked the ball down the line thinking that Joe Martin had made a over-lapping run but the ball went out of play, someone behind us slated Chris Whelpdale for not headering the ball to Cody McDonald from the by-line to where Cody McDonald was ( inside the penalty area) - how is Chris Whelpdale supposed to generate more power on the ball when Leon Legge had played a floated ball to Chris Whelpdale's head, also Cody McDonald was being marked by two centre backs so even if Whelpdale was able to header the ball to Cody McDonald then one of them two would of been able to deal with it - I can understand slating players if the effort and commitment wasn't there, but their was no way that Whelpdale was able to do anything other then flick the ball down the line.

Sheffield United moved the ball about nicely from left to right and once again Tony McMahon was involved again for Sheffield United and his run down the right and clipped ball into Shuan Miller who turned one way and twisted another but his tame shot on goal was easy enough for Stuart Nelson to hang onto.

Elliott Hewitt and Craig ***an have done well to link up down the right flank considering that both players are making their debuts for Gillingham in a very difficult match away to Sheffield United, Elliott Hewitt has mostly been headering and kicking the ball into touch as Gillingham had mostly been on the back foot for the first half, but Elliott Hewitt has got a long throw on him and he has linked up well with Craig ***an, But Craig ***an showed glimpe's of his quality in the first half as a fantastic reverse ball played Bradley Dack through down the flank but Dack was out-muscled off the ball and Sheffield United had a goal-kick, and moments later Craig ***an played another quality pass for John Mousinho to run onto down the right but Mousinho's squared ball was intercepted even though squaring the ball looked like the right thing to do.

And finally Cody McDonald went on a fantastic mazy running after intercepting a weak pass and Cody McDonald tried to get past one more player so he could shoot with his right foot but Cody McDonald was challenged as he tried to get past the last defender, their have been occasions this season where Cody McDonald needs to use his left foot to shoot and this was defiantly one of those occasions.

HALF TIME - SHEFFIELD UNITED 1 - 1 GILLINGHAM - At least we went in at half time with the scores level at 1 . 1 and while Sheffield United had created the better goal-scoring opportunities and they have had the best chances, they have not been able to build on their equalizer and we have had good spells of retaining possession of the ball and one or two moments where we could of tested Sheffield United that little bit more at the back.

Me and Rob moved across to the more emptier block at half time because we spent most of the first half standing and sitting because the blokes standing in-front of us were obscuring our view and we wanted to see what was happening on the football pitch without blocking anyone's view behind us, I also was writting notes i my notepad about anything and everything in the first forty five minutes.

I wasn't the anonymous respondent. If I knew of their identity I would certainly have awarded rep for such a mature reply to such a poor article - and that's before I start to criticise the appalling language. I'll not say anything else - because the article deserves nothing but contempt.
