I go up every year for the punk festival, used to be in Morecambe, now in Blackpool. Morecambe is a ghost town and one of the most poverty stricken places I've ever seen. Blackpool has crap pubs, amusement arcades, fast food shops, tacky souvenir shops and is full of fat ugly chavs on their holidays - a vision of hell.
If you think Blackpool's like Essex then you're in for a shock. As Frankie Boyle said, it's the only town in Britain where you can catch Chlamydia from Fish and Chips. Imagine the North of England even more Tackified with a load of pissed up visiting Jocks and you've got Blackpool. Still a ****ing great place to go like, no Southern snobs and huge Queues like Alton Towers but the rides are ****ter now Bling's gone and there's always loads of deals on Booze in the town, just don't **** with the Bouncers.
If the Weather's nice, hit the Beach or if you're into Rides and that kind of ****, go to the Pleasure Beach, usually a good day out. I've never been to Morecambe I don't think, and I don't know if I ever will unless it's for football.
And Jocks... I met a Rangers fan there t'other year with 'UVF' tattoo'ed on his arm. However, most the Northerners there make Weegies look almost Human. The kind of place where Pikey Beating is a recognised sport.
yeah, drunken Weedgies or Fifers pissed up n high on candy floss! That was representative of the majority of Rangers fans!
Blackpool is class. Great place to take the kids during the day, with plenty for them to do. It's alright for a piss-up at night too. Hundreds of pubs and clubs and its rough reputation is undeserved IMO. I've been on a night-out there loads of times and never seen anything really get out of hand. There's more chance of it kicking off in Wigan, Bolton, Leigh or even Manchester in my experience.
I don't think Morecambe/Blackpool is any different to anywhere else in the country of being a ghost town, that is what recession does shuts down businesses. As for cockle picking it shows the ignorance of one or two on this topic when they have to bring it up. Inocent people lost their lives to earn hard earned money in Morecambe bay.
