Charlton travel to Bloomfield Road to take on last seasons beaten playoff finalists in Blackpool. While Charlton lost at home during midweek going down 2-1 to Watford, Blackpool travelled to Hull and got an impressive result winning the match 3-2. Their goalscorers where Matt and Kevin Phillips and Dicko. Blackpool currently sit 4th in the league and have taken 16 points from 9 games so far. They have also banged in 13 goals at home in 4 games so pur defence will have to be on top of its game.

    Previous Meetings

    Charlton Athletic 2-2 Blackpool 18/04/2009
    Blackpool 2-0 Charlton Athletic 06/12/2008
    Blackpool 5-3 Charlton Athletic 23/02/2008
    Charlton Athletic 4-1 Blackpool 12/01/2008

    Top Three Goalscorers-

    Charlton Athletic - Watford
    2 Kermogant - 6 Ince
    2 Jackson - 3 Dicko
    2Fuller - 2 Delfouneso

    Team against Blackpool

    Hamer

    Wilson Morrison Cort Solly

    Green Stephens Jackson Hollands Kerkar

    Fuller

    Subs
    Button
    Dervite
    Evina
    Cook
    Pritchard
    Hulse
    Wagstaff

Blackpool have great attacking players in Ince, Phillips, Dicko and Delfouneso and I imagine we will just be trying to contain them and hit Blackpool on the counter attack which is why i've gone for a 4-5-1 formation. If we want anything from this game we will have to dominate the midfield. Sadly I can't see us getting any points from this game and I can see us going down 2-0 or 3-1.

I think there is a lot to be said for going 4-5-1 tomorrow. Blackpool love to attack, and we are more than capable on the counter. I would like Razak to come in for Hollands - he looks more capable of bringing the ball forward than Hollands who has looked a bit one paced at time.

As for prediction, we will be lucky to get a point. Our defence has been a bit suspect (thought not helped by the midfield) and so I think Blackpool have a couple of goals in them. I will say 2-1 to them, us getting a late consolation. Am still looking forward to traveling up though, and will make a night of it afterwards. COYR

If we play 4-4-2 we will get slaughtered, 4-5-1 we have a chance as long as we don't concede early and frustrate them like it happened to us last season. Unforuntanetly I do not see us getting anything.

I have not been on since Tuesday... I was and probably still am too angry at that second half performance.

As for tomorrow, I also feel we will be lucky to get a point so 2-0 Pool

I hope to get rid of this anger at tomorrow's U18 game against Brizzy Citeh, that game I am going 3-1 Addicks :)

My posting has been pretty muted as well this week, AllHell - and I've a feeling I may be simmering for some time yet.

Tomorrow has the potential for massive embarrassment.

However, it won't be, because of our ability to raise our game against like-minded opponents - we will be attacked all game tomorrow and I believe we'll give as good as we get.

If the team lines up in the same formation as Tuesday night, with Razak in for Hollands and Evina in for Wilson (unlucky, but tough...) I believe this will give us the best chance of a result.

However, given recent history, nothing this radical is likely to happen - so I predict an open, attacking, thrilling end-to-end game which we'll lose 3-1. It may be slightly closer if Young Master Ince fails his fitness test.

Hope those who go make a lovely weekend of it - Blackpool is much maligned, but at least it doesn't try to pretend it's something it's not. And of course, with Fleetwood just down the coast, the fish and chips are fabulous - try the Bloomfield Chippy, the 273, The Ketch or Seniors, if they're still there. Just don't eat them before you go on The Big One...yuk.

Against Blackburn we played 4-5-1 and it was our best home performance of the season to my mind, so what changed in the space of 3 days? Danny Hollands had an excellent game Saturday but seems to have gone from hero to zero so much so that the untried Razac is now flavour of the month to replace him. Tuesday was a bad team performance, I just think we looked so much better playing 4-5-1, more confidence, everyone seemed to know their role, I just can't see the problem with sticking to it. Fuller is an ideal front man, BWP is playing well but is not looking like the lethal striker we like to think he is so drop him back, he still has the skill to create chances and restore Solly to his rightful position. Our LB is injured so we play our reserve LB, no?

Just decided to go tomorrow, Tuesday was poor but never been to Blackpool's ground, would take a point obviously, has the potential to be an embarrassment if they get an early goal or two.

I did mention it on another thread FHB, but exactly why is Rasak here? He's only played a dozen senior games, but as soon as he arrived we were bigging him up - what for? If Chrissy had any confidence in him, he would have come on Tuesday when Hollands was having a stinker. Let's see what he's got.

I don't think Hollands has played well in a while and the game on Tuesday was the nadir of his season so far - the one-touches with the outside of the foot were terrible, he seemed not to be able to pass ten yards without hitting a Watford player and his body language was dreadful, in particular putting his face in his hands after one spectacularly misplaced pass. He should have been off fifteen minutes before he finally went.

I think Hollands form can be summed up by the fact that when our captain is out injured, our vice captain (Hollands) is overlooked and Morrow becomes captain!

    Line-up:

    Hamer
    Wilson
    Morrison
    Cort
    Solly
    Green
    Stephens
    Razak
    Hollands
    Kerkar
    Fuller

Bench: Button, Evina, Dervite, Pritchard, Wagstaff, Hulse, Wright-Phillips

Looks like we've gone 4-5-1, which I think is what a lot of us wanted

Yes, this selection has my approval. We will smother them for 75 minutes then bring on BWP to snatch one in the last fifteen minutes.

CP will be happy now he has an excuse to bring on Bradley Pritchard (for Green). Not much of a vote of confidence in Wagstaff but I suppose Pritchard is more "match ready".
