Traffic will be a nightmare so when should i set off at the latest? Taking the Mrs and kids and doing the BPB the next day.
traffic wont be that bad, last season we played preston on a friday night and we set off about 4-30- 5-no problems.. were going at 4 this year , time for a couple of beers before, then staying over for a few cheeky ones after!
see you there chazz, i'm doing the same taking wife and kids staying over and also at BPB on saturday, setting off around 4.30 so hope the traffic's fine.
Unless people are taking the kids to Blackpool for a weekend at half term, then there might be traffic at that end.
There is road works for about 15 miles once you hit Leeds. Speed set at 50. Its fukin awful. May go bout 3:30 ish. 45 quid in Travelodge cant go wrong with that.
The Irwell Valley section of the M60 (J18-J13) may be busy... I travel on this section of the road every day and it can be horrendous both ways between the M62 and the M61 (J15 for Preston and northbound M6 for Blackpool ) on a Friday night, it only takes one accident anywhere from Leeds to Liverpool to cause havoc - the other day it was sheep on the road that gave a 2 hour delay. There are no roadworks that I know of (unless the cones spring up between now and next Friday) on the northern section of the M60 or the M61. Don't go the long way to the M6 by going back on to the M62 towards Liverpool - there are roadworks which slow you right down.
There are also speed restrictions beyond Huddersfield up to Junction 22 (Saddleworth/Ripponden). Also not half term in this area so traffic could be heavy, especially being a Friday evening.
Can't make my mind up what to do about this one, I'm away all week(early part in Manchester, latter part in London), I'll be back on Friday, but junior doesn't finish school until four and it's not nearby and I'm not sure I'll get there in time, or if I can face another 250 mile round trip this week. I've also got the option of watching it in the pub with my veterans team which should be a laugh, decisions, decisions...
It will be an easy ride to Blackpool. No problems at all unless you have have poor directional sense. Leeds is always a bad place to get past but as long as your past Leeds by 4pm its plain sailing. Looking forward to a nice weekend by the seaside and 3 points on friday night. Thank goodness March is almost here (RAS time) and the Real Action Starts. UTT
OWS says we have a limited number of tickets left for this one, very impressive for a Friday night Sky game.
For those of you going to BPB, I don't know if you have been before but it's a truly awful place, worth nowhere near the king's ransom you will doubtless pay out while you're there.
Only £32.50 at Preston Travellodge! Anyone got any decent parking suggestions near to the ground? Weird thing is I lived near Bloomfield Road in Blackpool when I was 5 for about 3 months while we were waiting to go to America where my Dad had been posted by the Army. I even went to school there but can't remember much about it. First away game this season for myself and the wife at her suggestion, so looking forward to it, we really love the atmosphere of away games. Just haven't been able to do any this season for a variety of reasons but going to make a weekend of it and thought Travelllodge would do for Friday night as we won't get there till pretty late that night. Hope we leave the ground with big smiles on our faces after recording an impressive away win!
Ive got Hotel incl. friday evening meal, bed and breakfast and free parking all for £30 in Blackpool. 15mins walk away from the ground. Book early to avoid disapointment.
