Hello Lads First of all congratulations on reaching the play-off final. The reason I'm posting here is because I will be attending the game on Monday (as a Watford fan for the day) with My Uncle who was born in Watford but moved up North some 20 odd years ago. Anyway.. I wondered if you could tell me which are the designated Watford pubs and if anyone could advise on travel from Harrow, where we are staying? How much roughly is a taxi, train, overground etc, how ,long it will likely take with the added 'traffic'? It would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance and UTH
Hi MolDog and welcome and thanks for your support. From Harrow its easy by Underground. Get a Metropolitan Line train from Harrow on the Hill Station and get off 4 stops later at Wembly Park and walk, soaking up the Atmosphere as you go. http://www.londondrum.com/transport/train-journey.php?from=wembley-park&to=harrow-on-the-hill Have a good time. By the way its over 40 years since I lived in Harrow but I don't think things have changed much apart from rebuilding Wembly. If I am totally off here I hope someone will correct this. A tip for the journey back, if Wembly Park station is busy walk to Preston Road Station (mile) and get on there.
Just a point of caution. 'Fast' trains do not stop at Northwick Park, Preston Road or Wembley. However I would assume that on the day, even these ones will make the additional stop to ease congestion.
Thanks chaps! Looking forward to it, I imagine it will be easier for me to enjoy the spectacle in comparison to the last couple of times I've been with Blackpool...
Given the hoops that regular attendees at Vicarage Road had to jump through to get their tickets, I'd be interested in knowing how you got yours.
yes, how, I looked at the conditions and realised I could not buy a ticket at all, even if I could go.
Actually most 'fast' trains stop at Wembley Park these days...which kinda makes them not very fast at all!
yeah i wondered that. Still absolutely livid with a mate of mine who i used to go with as a season ticket holder - he went to a game earlier this seasion and i couldn't go as i was abroad for work. He used the fan ID to get 2 tickets for the semi and the play off and gave the other one to the bloke who went tio the original match with him as it was "only fair". The other bloke is a cradiff city fan. Now they want me to go and have a beer with them before and / or after the game - i think not!
Going to Harrow on the hill, then taking a train to Wembley Park is shorter, but if you want a longer walk with lots of fans, you could go from Harrow and Wealdstone to Wembley central and walk it from there.
Weren't you able to get to one of the other 22 league games and cup games and thus establish a fan ID?
No and i fully appreciate I look like a glory hunter now. The post was more a stament of annoyance about my "mate"!
Then you are not a glory hunter. I have supported our team for several decades and some years I have been able to get to more games than others. Last year I bought a season ticket because the new owners gave me hope. I have only been able to get to three home games this season. Peterborough, Charlton and Leeds, ( not a good omen for monday ) but the other reason I got my season ticket was just in case there was a big game, I didn't want to miss it. It worked out quite expensive per game !
