Cup Final day, well for the visitors, every so often the Tangerine fools come to Deepdale, claiming they are superior to us, even though if they checked the actual head to head they would find out they are not, we are ahead by 7 wins. At the moment 3900 of them have managed to save a tenner from their benefits to make the short trip down the M55 to visit a ground which is a thousand times better than the sandbank they play on at the coast. Strangely they seem to have adapted an air of greatness after a one season soujorn in the top division many moons ago, which ended in relegation and a major boost to my Sky bet account. They managed to scab a win at Doncaster with two late goals yesterday, but will be interesting to see what will happen to them if Ince junior leaves. A quick turn around for both teams after Saturday's games, possible changes in both line ups, but we will see tomorrow night. Interestingly since watching North End, the Poo have a great record at Deepdale in the league but we tend to win the cup matches. Too close to call this one but it will be a great atmosphere. Again possible computer problems may not mean a blog on Tuesday but watch this space. THIS IS THE BIG ONE
It's always nice to win a cup tie against higher opposition, however it's doubly sweet when the losers are your main local rivals from the coast 20 miles away. TomClarke's header from a free kick two minutes from the end settled a tense encounter at Deepdale. The victory was slightly spoiled by a few numpties who ran onto the pitch at the end, no doubt a fine from the FA will be on the way. A tight first half with only three efforts from Blackpool's highly rated Tom Ince nearly troubling the home keeper. The Second half was more open with an early Martinez shot going narrowly wide, North End responded with a superb effort from Hume which was well saved by Gilks. Blackpool were hammered slightly by Ince being injured although he carried on playing. Pool looked dangerous from dead balls, twice Mckenzie and Broadfoot went close with headers. As the game looked destined for extra time Holmes's free kick for once was perfect Clarke did the rest. (1-0) Delirium in 75% of the ground, Pool pressed forward but could not find a way through the back 4 who were quite outstanding. CLARKE IS FREE AND CLARKE SCORES, words from Sky, strangely all Pool fans seemed to be absent at work today. Preston North End 1 Blackpoo 0 Att 17700
Poor remarks by Ince Snr, 2 match suspension for Ince Jnr for gesture, £10k damage by 'pool supporters, steward injuried by hore pushedc by 'pool supporter. Hardy a good night for B'pool.
Car torched in town, car overturned by a mob who were there hours before the kick off, as for Ince Snr, Grade A plonker
