Anyone else on Twitter follow Steve Black? Well, if someone could explain to me, or even better decode the bullshit he spouts then I would be most grateful. I'm not knocking his knowledge or credentials and it appears he has sorted out Barton's head (would be more impressed if he could sort out Taarabt)....but is he having a laugh with all this Pseudoscience?! It's all so cringy and generic. He sounds like David Brent, and come to think of it looks like him too. In fact, have they ever been seen in the same room together?! Just saying..... For those who don't follow him or are not on Twitter, here are a few gems from yesterday: "If your focus isn't on doing everything in your powers to improve from your last outing you cannot be optimally successful at what you do." "If you do things right you Will be rewarded. Never stop reinforcing the basics that make a good player. Don't become complacent. Discipline." And my favourite...... " Last one ...Never ever get bored doing the right things !!! Also- rans do .. Champions never do. Relentlessly focus your efforts. Good luck!"
I saw it and thought the same, utter tosh. If they want to spout that rubbish at players I can spend all day digging it off the internet and only charge half the price!
Any proffessional footballer shouldn't need to hear this tosh - getting paid a fortune for doing something your supposed to love should be more than enough motivation. Tell them that if they don't get their **** together they're out doing the bin rounds or working in McDonalds for minimum wage - that'll shake them up!
So, paraphrasing:- You don't get better without trying. Focus!!!! Remember not to **** up. It's like Clive from LFW has started writing fortune cookies.
To be honest, those quotes aren't bad and players would be better off listening to those kinds of ideas. He's basically saying that it's all down to hard work and never forgetting the basic and most important things.
If thats what he's basically saying why not say it so they can understand it there footballers for ****s sake
Dear TF In view of financial fair play hear is a free internet link for inspirational quotes for all situations Thank Mr Black kindly, say goodbye and pass my fee to charity.... http://www.inspirational-quotes.info
I prefer these (with thanks to Demotivators.com) Believe in yourself. Because the rest of us think you're an idiot. Those who do not learn from cliches are destined to repeat them. Those who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those proving them right. It takes genuine talent to see the greatness in yourself despite your lack of genuine talent. Just because you've always done it that way doesn't mean it's not incredibly stupid. Pain is just weakness leaving your body. Sometimes your spirit hitches a ride. You can do anything you set your mind to when you have vision, determination and an endless supply of expendable labour. Teambuilding. Sometimes the most important lesson you can learn is that you are not a very good team.
Swords, no-one was worshiping him, some of us just gave him some credit for the attitude change that was apparent towards the end of last season. It seemed that Redknapp had just about given up the ghost, and the introduction of Black seemed to have inspired a sense of camaraderie and will to win amongst the squad which carried us through the play-offs. As Stan pointed out at the time, there is a factor of diminishing returns from this kind of stuff.
Sorry Strolls but that's called having your cake and eating it (a silly phrase that never made sense to me ). Stan also said at the time - and he ain't no lover of Redknapp - wait until we start losing in the PL and it'll be 'Arry's fault not Black's. I said it at the time too along with Queens. Its all too predictable mate. You either credit Harry with both successes and failures or you attribute both to Black as well. You cannae have it both ways wee mon
Redknapp had failed to keep us in the Premier League and was busy failing again by blowing an automatic promotion place. It even looked as though we could miss out on the play-offs. There was an attitude change amongst the squad, and it didn't come from saggy chops. The players, and even Redknapp himself, credit Black with this refreshed motivation. Black's influence will naturally diminish and Redknapp's inadequacies are being exposed once more.
Right so when we won promotion it was Steve Black and not Redknapp's doing. But now that we're losing its Redknapp and not Steve Black's doing. Got it
Give up mate, Harrys never done anthing good for us. It was Maclaren that won us the early points, then we had or "wobble" (as per every other team) then Black got us promoted... In fact why do we even need Redknapp ? TF could have got us those players on his own couldnt he...with a bit of inspiration from Black
