Dawson doing the presser with Nige today. please log in to view this image "It's been a disappointing season so far. When you look at the position we're in - we've underachieved. Performances haven't been too far off, but we need to improve results-wise. We know we haven't hit the heights expected of us and everyone knows we have to improve." "The FA Cup is coming up and we all know what special days the competition can bring. I've had some great memories in the FA Cup over the years. We've got a tough test ahead of us at Blackburn, but every game you play you want to win, and we want to win on Saturday." "I want to play every game. When you get a little older and play two in two days I certainly woke up with a few aches and pains. We’ve been busy over Christmas, so maybe I will have a rest but I’m not sure. I’ll be travelling but we’ll have to wait and see." "The gaffer will be looking to give players a chance and to those who need minutes. I’ve played a lot of games this season, and only missed one when I was ill and hopefully I’ll keep going and improving." "Since the new manager has come in we’ve had a go performance-wise, but still been on the wrong end results-wise. The new gaffer has us playing with a bit more freedom." "We’re more organised because we’re more attacking. The fine margins have gone on for too long though. The new manager has been positive to get the best out of the players, we’re seeing that but results aren’t being achieved and that has to change." Adkins next... "We will make some enforced changes on Saturday because we've picked up a couple more injuries. But, we have some players coming back that we need to look at as well, players that have been injured. Evandro was brilliant in training today - he's a player!" "With the things that we've worked on in training, there's a good chance that a player under the age of 22 could play. David Marshall will also start for us in goal on Saturday." "We've got two excellent goalkeepers who both have fantastic attitudes and are very supportive of each other. I've been delighted with them both, along with everyone else in the squad. The attitude shown by the players has been superb." "David Meyler might be close for the weekend - that’s an improvement on will he or won’t he! Stephen Kinglsey has been running around a lot more, but he’s not available this weekend." "The FA Cup is certainly not a distraction. Blackburn have a big squad and will be ready for us. This is not their top priority though. The majority of teams involved in the competition this weekend will make changes for the right reasons." "It's the next game for us and the next opportunity for me to work with and have a look at my players. It's also the next opportunity for us to go out and try to win a game of football. We want to represent Hull City and go out and be the best we can possibly be." (on the transfer window): "If there have been any bids for our players, I'm not aware of them but they wouldn't be accepted anyway. There’s no bids on the table from us, but there have been enquiries about players on a serious level." "There’s opportunities there throughout January. The important thing is that we’re working hard behind the scenes. We’ve been here just over a month now and it’s important we see which players we need." "We’re a couple of days into the window, but all being well it’s clear for everyone to see we need freshness coming into the group. The attitudes of the players here though have been spot on and top-drawer." "There are some talented players coming back from injury, which is a positive. We need to act now and not be waiting though as if we’re not careful things can drift away. We're working hard to make things happen though." The end
Which suggests he’s playing, which is a massive mistake in my eyes. Get them doing pure fitness for 10 straight days, including Saturday. None of the regular starters should even travel and tell the fans that so they don’t attend unaware. It’s purely a game for Marshall, Lenihan (is he fit?), Clark, Dio etc.
I see he’s said he might have a rest but is travelling. Still think that’s a mistake, the main 14 could be on a training pitch for 4 hours.
Massively time to **** the FA Cup off, do what we did vs Donny, play the kids and people who've been on the bench, Daws in particular needs a rest.
Yeah I did pick up on that. I also thought it interesting the way he only ever referred to ‘the new manager’. Unless I missed it he didn’t say gaffer, boss, Mr Adkins, even the manager... bit weird.
He play play? You are Tinie Tempah and I claim my five pounds. I’d say brap, but then I’d have to hang myself.
I believe he did, I was at the game and I am sure he played, though up to coming away I saw a few U23 games, so might be mixing games up in my head. Has the potential to being a good player.
He had a very good first half, looked pacy and ran at their defence with confidence. Was our stand out player in first 45. Faded in second half as he played a more withdrawn role.
Probably will go with something like this. Marshall Clackstone Dawson Tomori Clark Hamilton Batty Meyler Bowen Campbell Evandro
Tempted to go as you can pay on the gate. Maps is saying around 2 hours traffic permitting. Lets get a result I wouldn't mind a small cup run something to cheer.
