Blackburn Rovers and Watford meet at Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon, each looking for the win that will see them move back into Championship playoff contention. Both teams have gathered 31 points from 22 games, with Watford two places higher in the table having a superior goal difference. Blackburn are having a stop, start sort of season. Back-to-back defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United were followed by a much-needed 2-1 triumph over Bristol City at Ewood Park. However, Rovers would then produce one of their worst performances of the season - not helped by a second-half red card - as they succumbed to a 4-0 defeat at Southampton. While Watford have only collected four points from a three-game period themselves, there is a sense that they are far better equipped to challenge for promotion. Although just one point was claimed from a double-header with Southampton and Ipswich Town at Vicarage Road, the Hornets responded by thrashing Preston North End by a 5-1 scoreline away from home. Valerien Ismael's side now have six wins and just two defeats from their last 12 matches, but can they reproduce the form they showed on their last visit to Lancashire? Team News Callum Brittain is suspended for this game, so some changes will be forced on Rovers. Some players who may be available have just returned from injury, so it remains to be seen what team Watford will face. Barring any new injuries, Valerien could be tempted to start with the same team that had a field day against Preston. The question though is, will he continue with Tom Dele-Bashiru playing at right back, or will Ryan Andrews return after his rest. i know , but there were none left to be bought from watford , so my mate got two home ones instead £10 each .....seems v cheap
Attendances are traditionally low so close to Christmas. People get hauled off to the shops, and there is little time for football, unless you are single. Add in the fact that there are games close together, makes some people choose which games they can afford to go to. I suspect that the prices Blackburn are offering are not what they normally charge. It is an attempt to swell the numbers, I would think.
There have not been any new injuries, so with the exception of JN there is a full squad to choose from.
Afternoon all and a Merry Christmas! Looking for a stream, my usual source is not showing anything. A win will start the festivities off well. Enjoy the game.
Try this Scully. It has been pretty good, although yo might have to refresh the page from time to time. http://www.fawanews.com/Blackburn Rovers vs Watford.html
Will only be here for the first half - my son in Perth just informed us that he's coming home for Xmas today instead of tomorrow as planned. He's on the train now, due to arrive at the nearest station at 4:45 - a 20 mile drive for me to get there. Inconsiderate little devil...
