I'd like to think we could get 12 points minimum from those games but that would be very optimistic in light of recent performances.

I did say "would be very optimistic".

Just thought as well, Tuesday 17th is the night of my monthly directors meeting in work. Bugger. Will miss the first half hour of the game!!!!

    Very inconsiderate rearrangement. <doh>

Could be two empty seats BfB - I am playing chess!

Have to ask Mike or Phil to get the programmes - thats if the kiosk in the Ninian has got any after last weeks shambles.

Any bets that Slade might not be there either?

I know it all depends on other results but so tight is the table right now, a win on Saturday could take us up to 10th and a loss put us down to 17th - and that's where Slade came in.

With Sheff Wed and Brighton then to come before Blackburn, we should be well into the top half of the table by then - anything less would be a complete failure. I'd expect Tan to have marked Slade's cards if we're anywhere near that bottom 6 leaving enough time for someone else to turn it around.

Won't Phil be chessing too? Or have you been demoted to the Development Squad?

You're probably right Nin, but I'm still not so sure despite coming in as Tan's man, that his position is as untouchable as some might think.

If we stay where we are relative to the other clubs around us, he'll probably see out the season and start the new one.

On the other hand if we get through February and start sagging into the bottom 6, the last thing Tan will want is for us to drop a tier. The only thing that might save Slade would be that there'd be 3 other clubs cut so far adrift that only mathematics would save them and we'd be safe on that basis.

If we're anywhere near that hapless position and the other clubs currently down there start playing, I reckon Tan will be well advised swallow some more pride like the "back to blue" turnaround and get someone in who knows what it's about at this level, because Slade clearly does not.

February looks like being the defining month for Slade this season.

Slade has only got to be average over the rest of the season to get another crack at it next year - the problem is he hasn't even been that. The danger signs are there and obvious to all - and that must include the owner and his directors.

All things off the pitch aside, he's been a very uninspiring manager at the club for both players and fans.
