Just received my ticket for Blackburn away next Wednesday and really excited. It will be my first away game since Scunthorpe so really up for it.

I'm sat in row 4 of the lower tier.

    Is this good/bad/ok?

I've been to about 10 away games and wherever I've been sitting the atmosphere has always been class but I'm just worried that because we're so close to the front it won't be as good..?

Have any of you been to blackburn before ( I'm sure a lot of you have!) and if so where did you sit and what was the atmosphere like?

    Cheers lads

Blackburn isn't the greatest of places to go to, and the home fans don't really create a great atmosphere.

But our away support is always good and you're guaranteed a good atmosphere. You won't feel alone no matter where you sit.

I went there with a mate for a Coventry game once and the atmosphere from the Cov fans was decent and Blackburn had their moments, its a good experience

I have been twice (and I'm going next week as well) and it has been brilliant both times. The first time was my first ever away game and it was absolutely insane!

Just wait for them to start singing "Going down the Bolton Road, to see the Blackburn Aces."

Ive been to Blackburn a good few times now. Away end atmosphere is great.
You do tend to get the more young knob heads at this game (toon fans wise) tho

Went last feb in upper tier, atmosphere was class from our boys but only heard them once or twice. Very poor home fans, not that they had much to cheer about.

Sat at the front several times unfortunately and hate it. Always seem to be near some family with kids and boring people who don't support the team. Plus view is worse of goal at the opposite end.

I personally hate being at the front. My ticket might be at the front but I'll just go and stand at the back.

Did that vs Villa cause was next to some absolute pillocks who wouldn't shut up abusing a muslim steward. Every other time I've tried to move (wigan, leeds) there was no room :\

Actually talking of getting a drink, I'm coming up for the game on Saturday with the lad, who's up for a beer and where?

We'll probably be starting off in the Hotspur then wandering round to the Strawberry.

You'll never get into the Strawberry on match days unless you go really early. There's a new place to go to ( The Shark Bar ) beside the ground but I haven't been in myself so can't comment on it. How are you travelling up?

If that's the one under the hotel, it looks quite up-market and expensive. More of a sit in with a meal place from what I've heard, not pre-match drinking and banter. Could be wrong, just the impression I got.

    From thier Facebook page:

Newcastle's newest Gastro Bar is now OPEN!!!
Live sport, great times and delicious food. Shark Club offers a masterful blend of Asian, Italian and Midwest Canadian influences (not forgetting classics like burgers and wings). Plus cool cocktails, premium spirits and a great selection of beers.
With over 40 flat screen TV's and a huge 3D projector we are now the only place to watch great sports in the city.

I'm driving up from Melton Mowbray, leaving at 8.00am and if the A1's ok we should get to Jesmond about 11.00. Drop the kit off in the hotel and wander into town for the first cheeky ale at approx 12.00.

In the past we've always managed to get into the Strawberry about 90 mins before the match then wobble up to Shearer's for a couple before getting into the ground.

90 minutes should give you time to get into the Strawberry anyway. Good luck.
