Now I'm not denying the tragic death of young Salah in the plane crash is not a terrible thing.
however football's governing authority have gone down the avenue which seems to be getting more and more the norm.
iirc when the plane crashed were not black armbands worn the following games and now Salahs body has been recovered its back to the armbands again not only in the Premier League but EFL as well.
we've become a nation of mourners at the drop of a hat these days, yes it's very sad but Cardiff fans are mourning a guy who never actually played for them in a way I find disturbing.
we as a nation don't seem to deal with death in a proportionate way, it's right for family and friends to grieve but when was it right for Joe public to show such emotions for someone they probably hadn't heard of four weeks ago.
It might just be me but it's a way OTT and I find it difficult to comprehend.
    Just saying.....

Agree. If it had been the pilots body found, would there be armbands? Don’t think so

This poor guy rarely gets a mention, his family have already stated their disappointment in this aspect.
    Good point Gelders.

I agree with you mate death has never bothered me ( probably beeing a farmer helps you see it every day ) but it doesn't really affect you anyway at all my mam said to me before she died if you are miserable for weeks afterwards you never get them back again crack on with your life.

I only tend to mourn people I know or felt like I knew and people who died in service. If I didn't shed a tear when I heard that the bloke up the road I'd never met passed away I'm not going to do it for strangers I hear about in the news. Celebrities royals and other 'important' people mean, if anything, less to me than the guy who I say hello to outside Tesco.

I agree with the sentiments of the OP.. Yes it was a tragedy which warranted publicity, but it has went way beyond the realms of normality with the mourning..

I agree, Cumbrian. Nantes have a right to be devastated by this. Not sure why Cardiff seem to be milking it. He never even kicked a ball for them.

Each to their own I say and it’s not for anyone really to decide what is over the top or not. It’s a mark of respect from the footballing community so it’s got **** all to do with who he has/hasn’t played for.
Might have been nice for you to at least have got the spelling of the poor lads surname right at least!

It's not clear you understand the concept of "Each to their own".
It might have been nice for you to avoid using the same word twice in one sentence. Completing the sentence with an exclamation mark wasn't necessary.

Haven't Cardiff tried to wriggle out of paying for the lad?

Apparently so. I've got a feeling they might not have insured the lad straightaway. Unlucky. Nantes are well within their rights to expect every penny from Cardiff.

So your the self appointed spelling police are you.
don't think anyone was unsure who I was talking about but I take your point however pointless it might have been.

No they haven’t as it’s a legal matter between 2 businesses and the regulatory bodies involved.

Probably hoping some investigating will find that Nantes had directly or some way put him on a dodgy plane making some sort of illegal journey. Sentimentality and doing the decent thing goes completely out of the window when there's £15 million involved

?? So Cardiff buy an asset, asset then never arrives without insurance (that we know of) and Cardiff don’t think they should pay. That’s how it looks. Legally, Cardiff bought the player. Whether or not he arrives is nothing to do with the legality of anything unless Nantes we’re responsible fir his flight
