http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15531286.stm Apparently we're looking at Celtic full-back Mark Wilson and Hibernian defender Paul Hanlon. Hanlon is a Scotland under-21 international, and Wilson at 27 has one cap for Scotland. I admit I know nothing of these two, anyone care to offer some info?
Wilson has been injury prone and had knee surgery and a broken leg. What I've seen of him, seems an average player. The only defender whose any good at Celtic is Emilio Izigguire? who is out with a double fracture this season. Hanlon has potential but Hibs defense isn't great this season, he is a bit like Hutton who went to Villa. Has a reputation on not always trying, but he is young.
Very much the same reason reason as B Mc B said, and if the had real potential the 2 big Scots clubs would have possibly snaped them up.
Are you sure the FFC scouts weren't there to have a look at Anthony Stokes? The 23 yr old striker has scored 22 times since signing from Hibs last year (who he scored 22 goals for also). Started out in Arsenal reserves and after loan spells was transferred to Sunderland for £2m. Was their number 9 in the premiership before falling out with Roy Kean. Currently in the Republic of Ireland team. Worth some consideration wouldn't you say?
Wilson plays for Celtic. Despite Motherwell's current form and league position, I think Celtic still count as one of Scotland's big two! As for Hanlon, you make a fair point, but there are always exceptions. Steven Fletcher never played for Celtic or Rangers, and he's proved that he isn't out of his depth in the Premier League. I'm not saying we should sign them, but I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss their prospects either.
