...... But where did our link to Pig-Bag (I think it's called) come from? I remember being at the Millenium Stadium for the League1 playoff final against Cardiff, and because singing the National Anthem would be 'rascist', we and all the 30-40k other R's fans sang Pig-Bag. Felt like a bit of a plonker, seeing as we hadn't even kicked a ball, let alone scored a goal, by that point!!
This could easily spawn a very long strand about our 'theme tune'. I agree pig bag is becoming well overused. At first it was just for goals but now the team come out to it and it is inserted at every other opportunity. Add to that the fact that it is now used by other clubs and has become a common tune to which supporters of other teams add words etc. So [pause for breath at point of controversy] is it time to replace pig bag? And if so what with? The reason why you were forced to 'sing' this at Cardiff Houston was because we just don't have a traditional song like most other clubs.
And BTW the link to QPR was that the 'PigBag' version of 'Pappa's got a brand new pigbag' (a James Brown song) was released by Rough Trade records who were based in Ladbroke Grove and whose owners I'm pretty sure were supporters of QPR in the 80s.
I think they were trying to stop any issues with the Welsh singing our National Anthem or something. Never understood it, tbh!!
It was cringeworthy in Cardiff, where in honesty the FA ducked the issue. So whilst we belted out Pig Bag, 40,000 Welshies belted back Men of Harlech. We might as well have chosen Jerusalem or I Vow to Thee My Country instead on a par with MoH!
oh please, an ever present on my ipod ............ love hearing it at the Loft, but was getting played a bit too early
