Right after saturdays performance, the impact the subs made and with Beckford, Wellens, Johnson and Gallagher back for Birmingham Sven has a massive selection headache to deal with. The starting 11 should stay the same but the bench is where he is going to have the issues. Dyer, Schlupp and Howard all made impacts. But some will have to lose their place. We have all been dying to see Nugent and Beckford together but one of them has always been injured. Nugent couldnt run in the end on saturday and part of the reason was he wasnt 100% match fit but he works so hard aswell. Vassell dont deserve to be dropped but he now has Beckford breathing down his neck. The back 5 look solid and even at 3 nil Mills and Schmeichel was throwing their body on the line like their lifes depended on it. That shows how much they wanted the clean sheet. Something we have missed since Wayne Brown Nugent, Danns and Fernandes all took their chance and King looked better in the Wellens role. The strength in depth we have is unbelievable. We can afford to have Wellens out and not really miss him. Oakley and Waghorn are allowed to leave on loan. I think now teams are starting to click i think us and West Ham will start to push on with Southampton leading the chasing pack
I can see some swaps on the bench: Beckford < > Howard Wellens < > Dyer Possibly Johnson or Gallagher for Schlupp as well. Gives you: Weale St Ledger / Pantsil Wellens Johnson / Gally Beckford Tbh i can't see him playing exactly the same side as he did this weekend, although i'd like him to.
kasper peltier bamba mills konchesky abe fernandes danns king nugent beckford subs: st ledger, johnson, dyer, vassell, howard. vassell is similar to schlupp and cant afford to play schlupp in these games just for experience. No need for sub keeper.
Sven said in the Mercury that all three will be ready for the next game so the headache starts now I guess! Another thing is that Gallagher might be back fit. Even if he is though, I don't think he merits a place in the squad yet and I'm sure he'll understand that. Also don't forget that we have a few players away on International duty. Yuki Abe in particular will have to stay in Japan for a long time. If all the players do come back fit from International's then I would go unchanged because I don't think anybody deserves to lose their place and therefore there is no need to make changes. It will show how much Sven regards form and how much he regards reputation when picking his team though. The only reason I would make a change (other than injury) is if Yuki isn't 100% after coming back from Japan and then Wellens or Johnson would come back in. As for the bench, does anybody think it might be worth going without a sub keeper so we can accommodate more of our outfield players? I can certainly see the benefits and considered it as a viable option a few weeks ago but I just think that one tweak of muscle when Kasper kicks a ball (especially with his kicks) or one late challenge from a striker and then we could have a very sticky situation on our hands. I just think the risk outweighs the reward. On the bench, I think the three injured players should probably be put back on the bench. Although it might be harsh on the three players who came on, I think the impact that the three players can have on a game if things aren't going well are too good too ignore and they all have the ability to change the game if things aren't going well. Schmeichel Peltier - Mills (C) - Bamba - Konchesky Abe Danns - Fernandes King Vassell - Nugent Subs: Weale Pantsil Wellens Johnson Beckford
The sub keeper is a luxury now the number of subs is limited - Sven seems to go with the notion that it's necessary - Ah well he's the manager and knows a damn site more than me!
Dont like to knock any players, but think we might have done better against Forest without a sub goalie on bench just my opinion.
I think players like Bamba, Nugent, St. Ledger, Peltier would make a decent emergency keeper if we needed one. I wouldnt have a sub keeper myself
Weale was quality in his first year and apart from that mistake at Derby he never put a foot wrong all season. I remember Tottenham was after him aswell and talk of an England call. But now he is useless. If anything ever happened to Kasper we need to get a loan keeper in
Just saws this article on JA http://www.ja606.co.uk/articles/viewArticle/45916 about a brave young Birmingham fan who has tragically just passed away at the age of 11 years after battling a brain tumour - They are to hold a minutes applause in his memory, I know we will all join in with this so if you can make as many people aware as possible
The Mail takes up little Harry's story in today's edition http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...Ks-kindest-boy-loses-battle-brain-tumour.html
R.I.P. Harry. Just read his incredible story and am truly moved. He is an inspiration for all and his acts of selflessness are truly heroic. To lose such an amazing person at the age of just 11 is heart-breaking and my thoughts go out to his family. Have no doubt, the applause will be well respected by all Leicester fans and its puts it all into perspective doesn't it. .
I will be there, my boss is a blues fans and has a box, I will be taking my lad with me who is 11, it really does make you think how lucky you are. RIP Harry
