"I try to play a system that suits the players," McDermott said. "When I was at Reading we had two wingers, we had to play a pressing game and got out of the league playing that way. "We won a lot of games 1-0, we were difficult to play against and this team here have got players who can pass the ball, so we play that way. "I enjoyed watching them. We had a lot of the ball, players were comfortable on the ball and they looked like they wanted the ball. Meanwhile, he must decide whether to stick to the same team that beat Burnley in midweek or welcome back club Captain Lee Peltier to the heart of our defence. Michael Brown has served his two match suspension, and is therefore available for selection. Steve Morison could return to the squad after being rested in midweek. Fellow striker Ross McCormack is expected to be passed fit despite picking up an ankle injury in the win over Burnley on Tuesday night. Midfielder Chrid Dawson will not return to first team action this season, as he underwent shoulder surgery yesterday. Let's hope he is fully recovered by the begining of next season. Birmingham boss Lee Clark is expected to stick with the same side for the third game in a row. The blues picked up four points on their travels in the last week with a draw at Leicester and a win at Bristol City
Morning Elland. Promises to be a good game. On the back of two wins, it will also be a good yard stick to see if those victories were a flash in the pan or real progress. On team selection, I'd like to see Peltier return to RB with Byram pushing on to RM. On a technical point, I believe that Morison missed Tuesday because he was injured. But I'd like to see him on the bench with Ross & Varney remaining up top. Brown will probably be on the bench. Whatever else he might be, he is certainly useful to help strengthen the midfield if we need to hold onto a lead. But he just needs to keep on his feet a bit more & shepherd attackers out wide, rather than lunging in too much. On the score, I'll go for a well earned 1-1 draw with us continuing to pass pass pass. There's a thought, can we get pass pass pass pass to fit the tune of Marching on together?
On the caption competition, I'll go for... "what do you mean, Warnock's taking over as chairman from Ken Bates? It isn't April the 1st is it?
£10m kitty?? Yeah right!!!!! That said, A. Would we need £10m to get us up? Look at the money Leicester have speent as opposed to Cardiff?; & B. Who would we buy? Would we bring back Beckford?
Morning Boggers, Agree, I'm looking forward to this one. I don't see we have the strength in central defence to move Peltier to right back, though I woulod like to see Byram get forward a little more.
Morning all. Looking forward to next three games. I think if we can win two of them, we'll have made huge headway under McDermott. Would be nice to go into the summer break knowing we had a quality manager and likelihood of investment for him to work with. Mind you, I could have written this twelve months ago
Habby, I think Brown will get back into the 14 that now makes up the team. He may not start, but he will have a role to play in ensuring the other 3 CMs continue to put a shift in. That said, a half decent caption. You/anyone else on here planning to come down for the Watford match?
Boggers I can't afford to come watford mate Had Car insurance tax mot and service this month so will shaft me for a few months
Morning all I think we'll see Rosco and Varney up top again, with Morison getting a bit of time off the bench. As for Bringing Pelts back in, if he does I think it'll be back in as a CB rather than a RB pushing Byram up. Brown will be bench at best. He adds a bit of "steel" to the midfield by attempting to break opponents legs, but if we're really trying to settle into a possession retaining style of play, I'm not sure he's the man to do that. He was fine for chasing the game after another long ball was given to the opposition, can't fault his effort there. Then again, I could be completely wrong and he might be really composed on the ball, and it'll turn out that McD is getting the best out of him. (That's what you call wishful thinking after he got his automatic 1 year extension.......)
I wa gonna say Cardiff spent more than Leicester this year didn't they? and hull did. Theres a reason why they both went from average to promotion
see Norwich love becchio haha http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/206821-Do-we-offer-Kamara-a-contract?p=4599733#post4599733
Exactly. Our target need to be auto promotion, not scrambling into play offs before season even starts. People believing we're only short a couple of players to get to that level are sadly deluded
There's a guy in that thread saying that Becchio offers strength like Holt. Has he stopped going to ground for a light breeze now then?! Don't get me wrong, I'm a Becchio fan and I'd definitely have him back, but he did go down very very easily
Nothing wrong with going to ground easily seemingly any more. How about Suarez and he's probably wort 40 million. I'd also have Becchio back but then I said all along, I didnt want to see him go
