Following their opening day 2-1 victory at Sheffield United, the Swans backed that up with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Preston North End, thanks to a great header from Jay Fulton. With Potter and his team showing the Board that they have the capability and potential to make a challenge to secure an immediate return to the PL, the question is will the owners make funds available to bring in players on Loan to make that challenge a reality? We will soon know ....... Whilst the Swans were beating Preston, Birmingham were losing away at Middlesbrough by the same score with Britt Assombalonga scoring in the 13th minute, curling the ball home from the left side of the penalty area. For Birmingham's Manager Garry Monk - who previously managed Boro and of course the Swans - it was a day to forget, not only losing but seeing Craig Gardner red-carded in the closing stages. The Swans have played Brum on 33 occasions, winning 8, drawing 7 and losing 18 times. The sides last met on 25th January 2014 in an FA Cup 4th Round match at St. Andrews when the Swans ran out 2-1 winners thanks to a second half brace from Wilfried Bony. Turning to Friday night, in a match scheduled to be televised live by Sky Sports, I think that the Swans will keep their unbeaten record by drawing 1-1.
Cheers taff Kick Monk while he's down with the Swans being able to target this while Bradley from Eastenders also has a cup game mid week to concern his worries. GP to maintain a perfect record heading into the Leeds game and also giving us more points mid August than we had by December last year Brum1 - Swansea 3
A draw is not good enough here, only a convincing win against Monk would suffice as far as I am concerned, he was instrumental in starting the rot with our football, plus he was Jenkins snitch in the dressing room, so I'm going for a 2-1 win, Monk needs to be taught a lesson.............................
Again, a victory is the only acceptable result for me. Birmingham just avoided relegation last season - we should be able to go there and win.
I would like to think we can get a solid 1-1 here but would love to keep another clean sheet and pick up the 3 points
Love to get 3 points here but i think we are a tad to confident....It wont be easy however much we think it will be and i would be satisfied with a 0 - 0 or any kind of draw....Our Legend ex captain and manager will be right up for this and will probably give us our first defeat.....I hope not but i will not be putting any money on this game that's for sure....
Define 'Legend' Dai....... Yes he was part of our rise to the PL, but he was also the start of our downfall. I lost respect for Monk when I was doing a job for the National Autistic Society in Longford. Leon and Monk were there to give a speech, however Monk ended up just sitting in his car on the phone for the whole thing. Leon however, got up and gave a 5 minutes speech and then posed for photo's with whoever wanted one. Leon is a legend and a top bloke. Monk is not. Simple.
Monk not a Swans Legend you had better have a word with the club then to remove him from his Legend status...
I have , he's a legend in his head but for the rest of us a conniving , sneaky rat of a man not worthy . I suggest you read page 118 of his autobiography then you may grasp a better understanding
Once a legend always a legend, you cant pick and choose......He earned his legend status and that's that...
