Birmingham City - on current form you'd have to back them for automatic promotion

Can't help but be impressed by their recent form - coupled with the fact that they appear comfortable in selling Ridgewell and Beusejour (then go and score 4 at Elland Road).

Obviously every team has peaks and troughs formwise over the course of a season - hopefully we are hitting a peak that can be sustained - but with their game in hand, Birmingham look a real threat to the top two places and their surge is not unlike that of Norwich last year.

If I was a Saints fan I'd be looking quite nervously over my shoulder right now - particularly if you compare their current form with that of Brum.

I also think that the Tractor Boys great result against the Hammers the other night will really shake things up - West Ham now know that nothing is guaranteed and that they can't be complacent - whilst every other team in the division must now believe that it worth having 'a go' at West Ham because they are probably more vulnerable than previously thought - certainly their current team would find it difficult to survive in the Prem on the face of it.

I think the Chmpionship roller-coaster has many more twists and turns in store before the end of the season - exciting isn't it?!

There is still a long way to go

Crystal Palace are 15th and only 8 points off the play offs.

The play offs still open to Palace upwards, anyone who goes on a good run has a great chance

Why not Cardiff and Brum for automatics?

Wouldn't shock me if it were the case.

Def think Brum are the team to watch, there on a good run of form and i can see them getting automatic, i think saints may fade away, but who knows, alot can still happen, my heart wants us to make the play offs, which i think is the best we could achieve in reallity, but my head tells me we wont even manage that, well not unless we put and unbelievable run together, but as we still have not won back to back league games, i cant see that happening.

You could be right ya know, i'd expect west ham to go up through the play-offs if that were the case but im still backing West Ham and Birmingham to go up in autos with literally anyone for play-offs

I didnt think West Ham had the fire power to see them over the line but now they have Nicky Maynard i think they will finish in the top 2

Some decent signings in the Jan window from some of the top teams, including ourselves. Not sure what depth of squad Brum have left after seeing 14 of their cup winning side leave. They do seem to have a good team ethic though, something we have just recently found. I agree that there will be loads of twists and turns til the end of the season, and one team that can put together a series of good reults can make the autos.
Would still like to have the points in the bag now though. Think the Middlesboro game showed that we can pretty well dominate most of the game, but still only come away with a point.
Its an incredibly intense division, and will be just the same next season.

Barwell - you are a true Fox and I salute you sir! ... (the BBC had Boro edging possession 57% to 43% - and outshooting us by 11 to 10!) ..

Stats only tell half the story. Second half we had them on the back foot the whole way through. Beckford hit the bar, Beckford scored and all they did was have 1 great free kick
