Beating Ipswich currently and have Bolton up next... Win both and it could more-or-less all be over by Tuesday night
Last night didn't change anything. We're still going down. It was just good to see a decent performance and fantastic for everyone of those 2,000 fans who made the 400 miles round trip.
We are SAFC. Now give ya head a shake. If Birmingham hadn't won, it would have made life easy, but we at SAFC don't do easy. Anyway, CL form begins now, and a mere 5 wins (easy peasy) from 7 should see us safe
We probably will go down but until it's mathematically certain that that's the case I'm still going to cling on to that little glimmer of hope.
We had Brum in our 6 man pub syndicate. We cashed out on £5,100. £850-ish each. Happy days! Mind, if the other 3 results come in, we might be sobbing over our beers tomorrow
8 points ahead of us at the minute !, could be it by midweek next week Accrington 11 points clear in league 2 so interesting going there next season. I'll get this merged cos Im a ****ing idiot.
In his defence (am I really typing that...) he got dogs abuse on the other thread so it's probably not a bad idea.
I cannot help but think Newcastle supporters in their rush to denigrate Sunderland have lost sight of the precarious position they are in, escaping relegation should not be the aim of a club, from their performance this season can you see anything that would lead you to believe it will be any better next and subsequent seasons, football wise it is a sad time for the North East as a whole Tune in to the Commonwealth games and I will give you a wave
I agree entirely and have said it numerous times over the past 3 years. We have dropped from competing well in the to league to becoming poor top flight teams or even worse. Does the future hold a return to a time when there were 2-3 top flight teams in the north-east competing for some sort of silverware or even just decent league positions? Almost certainly not. We are perennial also-rans and will be treated as such by the press. A sorry state of affairs for the region as a whole.
The support received certainly deserves more reward than what they are getting, I take my hat off to the band of supporters following them to away games, the numbers under the circumstances are certainly unique , both Sunderland and Newcastle, the one hope that I will continue to cling on to is that someone somewhere will recognise the potential of this massive support and be prepared to back it with money
We hope that our Premiership place will allow a sale to come off and rid us of Ashley, so there's a bit more to merely avoiding relegation that boyes our spirits. There's no doubt that S.A.F.C.s abject failure (without us helping you to pick up points) for the last two seasons hasn't exactly gone down badly with our fans, but you lot don't deserve this situation.
It's hard to believe that Sunderland could be in the 3rd tier. It just shows that outside of the top 6 plus Everton anything is possible. If it happens it should at least guarantee a bash at top place next season, and looking at Brighton, Wolves etc. it may not be such a bad thing.
