But how come you’re asking in the first place, Jip? Is it bothering you somehow? It seems like a terrible question to ask yourself – in that it may only lead to feelings of guilt, perhaps, or a nagging sense of disloyalty? I don’t have kids (yet), but like to imagine I would compartmentalise my love and view both loves (for my wife and children, respectively) as being entirely equal whilst entirely different in nature (if such a thing is possible).
People with kids might have favourites as well don't they? I have nephews and nieces and most certainly favour some over the others though much of it is dependent on what football teams they follow and what music or books they wish to talk to me about.......

It was a tongue in cheek question really. Just made me think, I suppose. A better way to put it (if very morbid) would be: Who would you kill, if you had to kill either your missus or kids? That removes the "different kinds of love" issue.
